20% on $225 an hour. ($45) Even weirder he made it a % of the appointment, so if I wanted to see him for 2 hours his photos cost 2x as much.

There is a vast difference in these people how? I see everyone's actions thru intent, and even if they didn't intend to hurt you directly, they intended to come up by any means necessary. At the end of the day they are not a good person and you have taught them that it's ok to take advantage of other people, you probably weren't the first and likely won't be the last.
Every scam artist starts off as a good guy, until one day they decide it's easier to make rules then play by the rules that already exist. How many people does one need to scam before they become an artist?

$300 is very standard here in the PNW, I usually ignore anything over this. Being selective seems to be working well for my wallet, only really schedule with traveling guys that check every single box. Ultimately I am sacrificing other things I enjoy to afford this hobby, such is live, but I try my best to use it as a learning opportunity and education is expensive.

His profile isn't straight forward. He lists being versatile. But when he lists the specifics of what he's into-the only thing I really consider interactive  is oral. He's extremely handsome. But I'd probably choose someone else as I'm not into straight, minimally interactive guys. 

Yes the provider has a clear advantage when meeting new clients. It's much easier to hand someone cash then it is to make sure they leave happy, that's just a fact. I value effort, but I wouldn't expect them to put much effort into texting.
If I am unable to get reviews from members on this board then I expect a learning experience. Sadly you can't win them all, and I have passed on guys for ignoring my questions.

Met with him recently. He was a perfect communicator in my experience. Confirmed date/time and what I’m interested in.
When I arrived he was very friendly and chatty. He never once rushed me and we ended up chatting a bit after.

I think they hear stories about someone making $500 an hour and figure they deserve that as well. Idk about you but most providers I've met think pretty highly of themselves.

That's my take as well. I'm far less drawn to a "pretty face" and "rock-hard abs" than having a sense that the provider is a) actually skilled and b) enjoys the services they offer. Once I have an understanding of that then, I start thinking about how hot they are. 🤣
