When was the last time you visited us in KL @bud001 ? I’ve visited almost annually for 20 years. On nearly every visit I’ve enjoyed talent both local and traveling. I’ve frequented probably half of the 12 or so saunas. I use common sense and have never felt threatened. Yes Malaysia is a Muslim country. I can hear a call to prayer from the nearby mosque as I write. But Malaysia has and relies on its significant Indian and Chinese minorities. And for the most part all are tolerant of the mores of their neighbors. It’s worth noting that San Antonio TX with a similar 2.5 million population (my current hometown) has a single grungy sauna to KL’s dozen. RentMen in KL has currently about 90 offerings from around the globe to say nothing of the countless “money boys” posting on Grindr and Scruff. There may be 20 or so listed now on RentMen in San Antonio. Now YOU tell me which may be more LGBTQ friendly!

It ran for only 13 episodes in 1993 and then was summarily dropped by FOX without notice or the courtesy of a rerun. It involved a young disgruntled New Jersey guy who hops into his convertible, drives it onto a beach and into the waves in Key West, draws a pistol and shoots it. He’s a Hemingway wannabe who starts by taking a job at the local newspaper whose owner editor is blind. Jennifer Tilley is the whore next door. It gets more quirky with each episode. All this I remember from 27 years ago. When I looked it up on IMDB for this post I discovered all 13 episodes are now somehow available on YouTube. And if you’ll excuse me I’ve got some binge viewing to catch up on.

Durians on an airplane? I’d demand not a mask but a gas mask and absent that a knife to do in the offender. On the flight to Narita last week I happened to catch a CNN segment with Dr Sanjay Gupta. He pointed out that wearing the mask is not to prevent you from breathing in the virus: it’s to prevent the virus that’s on you hands from entering your nasal cavity or mouth. So in addition to wearing a mask WASH YOUR HANDS thoroughly and often.

From here in Kuala Lumpur most of the travel restrictions I see are specifically from the Chinese province of Hubei where Wuhan is the capital. The US is one of several countries that have evacuated citizen from the area. There are no other flights in and out of Wuhan and some some US carriers are reportedly considering halting all service to China. This virus is reported to be spreading more quickly than SARS a few years ago but after the SARS experience prevention protocols have strengthened. To date there have been no deaths out side of China. FWIW I got a spare bedroom here in KL @tristanbaldwin and the gym on the 25th floor is at least serviceable.

After knee replacement surgery I learned that wheelchair service and the Mobile Entry app can get you thru like lightening. Although I’m now ambulatory I’m not up to a crowd pace. And there are airports that are too badly laid out (like Narita Japan) that I’ll let the wheelchair assistant get me to my gate.

I’m currently visiting Kuala Lumpur. When I was last here 2 years ago there was a gorgeous muscular escort ironically visiting from NYC named Tyler W. Although he was charging NYC prices I reached out to him. In a pleasant exchange of texts it became clear that he was departing before I could free up to see him.
