After recently marking five years in the anchor chair at CBS Evening News, anchor Nora O'Donnell will be leaving the anchor desk shortly after the November presidential elections, it's been reported. On Thursday, CBS announced they will have co-anchors on the nightly news, and have struck a deal with John Dickerson, political editor for CBS News, and Maurice DuBois, a local news anchor for the network’s New York station, WCBS. The last time CBS tried the co-anchor format was 30 years ago, when the network paired Dan Rather with Connie Chung. It did nothing to improve ratings, and didn't last long. CBS says O'Donnell's new position (re: demotion) at the network news division will be as a senior correspondent who will seek out big interviews and opportunities for deeper reporting. It's the latest change in the news division, as CBS continues to lag in the ratings behind #1 ABC (David Muir) with 7+ million viewers and #2 NBC (Lester Holt) with 6+ million. CBS is averaging 5 million viewers each night. O'Donnell replaced the popular and well-liked Jeff Glor back in 2019, and CBS faced viewer back-lash as loyal Glor viewers didn't stick around to watch O'Donnell.

I usually see musicals on Broadway, and plays at our regional repertory theater (which draws audiences in from all over New England). The best play I saw at this local theater was 'All My Sons', which just stunned me with the magical performances by the cast. It stayed with me for a very long time. At the same theater, during the same season (I believe it was 2005-06) they had 'Mornings At Seven'. Probably the second best play I've ever seen, with the same magical cast. (I have to say, they changed artistic directors in the past few years, and he has gone in a different direction than what his predecessor offered - I haven't been thrilled with the productions the past few years and probably won't renew my subscription this coming September).
