For big corporations like the ones I mentioned, it is. It definitely is. They want to pay as little in taxes as possible - and use OUR money for write-offs.
-
One more thing about donations / charities... DON'T EVER contribute to a charity when money is being collected by a big corporation. When you're in the drive-thru at Dunkin' or McDonald's, or making a purchase at Whole Foods or CVS, and they ask 'Do you want to round up your change and donate to XXXX ?' The answer is NO - let them make their own donation with their own money (not YOURS) to collect their tax breaks on April 15. The money you would be donating to the charity you bring home and set aside - and at the end of the year you make your own big donation and claim your own tax deduction for 'charity'.
-
Next time you get a phone call or a knock on the door asking for a charitable donation, ask the caller / knocker if they are a volunteer or employee of the charity. 99% of the time they will proudly respond, "Why, I'm a volunteer". Your next question should be, "Are you a paid volunteer or a non-paid volunteer ?" You will get about ten seconds of dead air, and then the stutter: "Uh, ummm, uh, well, ummm...." 89% of the time they will answer "Paid volunteer" which means (more or less) they are getting paid by the charity via donations, but the charity does not have the person on their 'payroll' (so no taxes are taken out or other required deductions - the 'paid volunteer' has to do all that on their taxes). At that point, hang up the phone or close the door.

Battle Royale : Kecia Lews vs. Patti Lupone
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
I could never imagine going up to any actor or actress (no matter how famous or not) outside a theater and asking them to sign a Playbill that wasn't from the play / musical they were in. I can't understand someone wanting LuPone to sign the 'Hell's Kitchen' Playbill - go ask Lewis to sign it. If yu want LuPone's autograph after the show, buy a ticket to her show and keep her employed. -

Battle Royale : Kecia Lews vs. Patti Lupone
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
Lupone was a guest on 'The View' this past Friday morning, just hours before Lewis posted this. How I wish Lewis posted this before she went on the show - I would have loved Sunny to have asked for her response. (Sunny would be siding with Lewis, no doubt). -
Battle Royale : Kecia Lews vs. Patti Lupone

This way, she's getting attention and going viral on social media. And apparently, that's what this actress is needing right now in her life. Kecia Lewis needs to remember one important thing : Patti Lupone is a Broadway legend with three Tony Awards on her mantle. She has opened many shows and kept the box office going since 1979. Kecia Lewis is a very recent Tony winner, who is playing a part on Broadway. -
What makes a great ad for you to want to hire ?
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Questions About Hiring
Yes, I've been aware of this for a few years and have used a VPN to check out ads I'm interested in - very helpful to read the 'real reviews'. However, I never see prices listed on Rentmen when I'm using a VPN. What am I doing wrong ? -
OF porn star mourns death of his pet Peanut the Squirrel
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
Apparently, this guy is in quite a bit of trouble today. First, it is illegal to have any squirrels or raccoons living as pets in NY. He had both (not sure what happened to the raccoon). Second, he had what he called a non-profit 'charity' for Peanut, and took donations on behalf of the charity for abused pets and animals. He (apparently) made tons of money off this 'charity'. This weekend, the 'non profit' was never registered with the state of NY (big violation) and he has never reported any monetary donations to the site. But there's more... Third, this led the state to his adult 'OF' site, and they are now auditing to see how much money he has taken in over the years for his OF, and seeing what he has claimed in income taxes over the years. Of course, this means the Feds are going to get involved. He's in quite a bit of legal trouble, from what it looks like at this point. -

Yet another fine dining establishment is struggling
Ali Gator replied to samhexum's topic in The Lounge
I would never call TGIFriday's 'fine dining' - but, to each his own. The TGIFridays in my area (RI and southeastern MA) have been abruptly closing their restaurants over the past few months. I've read the one in Times Square has also shuttered without warning. On another note, in my area, Pizzeria Uno is starting to close down locations. Their official excuse is they never 'bounced back' from the Pandemic four years ago, so they are shutting down underperforming locations as leases come up. -

Battle Royale : Kecia Lews vs. Patti Lupone
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
If Viola Davis and Phylicia Rashad were starring in 'Roommate', and Rashad did the exact same thing LuPone did, would Kecia Lewis issue an 'open letter' to Rashad ? I'm betting the only 'open letter' she'd be writing is an apology on behalf of the production. -
Boy, did Kecia pick the wrong person to start a fight with, accusing LuPone of 'bullying' and 'being racially microaggressive'. I'm on LuPone's side in this 'war' - she did nothing wrong and everything right (IMO, from the facts presented) . Honestly, LuPone is full-on aggressive, nothing 'micro' about it. What makes a great ad for you to want to hire ?

One more thing on age-shaving... If you're a provider, look at the photos you selected (most likely, you have them on your phone). Then show someone you trust to tell the truth and ask them if you look 29 in the selected photos (or whatever age you're pretending to be). Most likely, they will say no if they're honest. So then ask them how young they think you can get away with in the photo (and you can easily say its for a dating site, and not tell the truth if they won't be comfortable with knowing). Currently there is a provider who is advertising as early 30s, when he is 20 years older than that. Hh hasn't changed his photos since I first met him 20 years ago - when he was 30. -
Thanks everyone for all the information. I appreciate - it has helped make up my mind (I'll put off setting up an account for now).

I have a question about Rentmasseur: I've never created an account with the site, always visited anonymously without an account / login. However, I noticed nude photos of providers are 'locked' and it says you have to login / create an account for free to access these photos. My question is - do you actually access these photos once you sign up for a free account, or is this a premium service which you have to pay for once you become a member ? (I believe with RentMen you have to pay a premium to access the nude photos, correct ?). I do know that once I logged in, a provider can see I was accessing their ad / photos and they can contact me through the site. (I know if I'm not interested in seeing the photos, I can log back out and browse anonymously, once again -correct me if I'm wrong! ). Thanks for any help !

I've noticed on the different RM sites that there are so many different approaches for providers attracting new clients. What makes an ad stand out to you that you want to pick up the phone and make arrangements ? For me, it's a few things: 1. A variety of different updated pictures. I don't want to see a bunch of selfies taken in a bathroom mirror from 2020 with a towel around you in every shot, in which the cell phone is actually blocking part of the guy's face (whether by accident or design). Current photos with face shots (or say you will send face shots in a dm) and current photos of your body. If you say you're hairy, don't share photos of a shaved / smooth body from four years ago. Optics is everything. If you're a masseur who doesn't offer nude massage, please don't tempt us with very revealing semi-nude shots. (It has happened to me many times - the photos leave nothing to the imagination as they are holding a small towel to cover their cock, but they seem offended if I ask if they are nude for the massage or offer erotic, reminding me this is therapeutic only). 2. Everyone 'age shaves' but let's face it - a provider can't be the magical '29' forever. Twice in the past month I've been with two escorts well into their 40s and both advertised as early 30s. Hopefully, men are hiring you for your appearance and your skills and experience - not for your age. If they find your photos sexy - you're sexy at 45, so you don't have to be 32. 3. STOP with the 'Ask Me' for pricing. Your pricing should not fluctuate like the stock market. More often than not, I find when I inquire about a price for 'Ask Me', I find the provider has priced himself above market price. I've gotten to the point where I skip over those providers these days. 4. Say where you're located in your ad, especially if you're targeting a big area. For example, if you are listing 'Boston, MA' but actually staying in Foxboro, MA or New Bedford, MA - please say so. It makes decision making much easier, depending on where the client is coming from. If you are staying in Boston, say what neighborhood you are staying in - again, helps with the decision making (as some areas are much more difficult to find parking than others). These are just my thoughts...😀

Reimagined "Sunset Boulevard" revival opens on Broadway
Ali Gator replied to Ali Gator's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
I saw SB three times - 1996 with Buckley, 1999 with Petula Clark (the watered down second tour) and 2017 revival with Glenn Close. The last two times made me long for the 1996 staging and costumes - in my opinion, the visuals added to the story as much as the characters, dialogue and singing. When Buckley stepped down those stairs for the first time, I was captivated - I went into a time machine and brought inside her Hollywood mansion on Sunset Blvd in 1949 - I was no longer sitting in the Minskoff Theater in the summer of 1996. Though Close was magnificent in the role in 2017, the 'scaffolding' took something away from the storyline, as well as her more 'basic' costumes. (Clark and the touring production were awful in every respect). I really lost the sense where I was brought back in time to 1949-50 Hollywood, inside the mansion. I never left the Palace theater. That's why I'm on the fence with this new revival - the bare-bones staging and the simple costumes are not tempting me. I know others see it differently, and don't put as much weight on the visuals (staging and costumes) to enjoy the show - and that's fine. For me, it holds some importance. -
Reimagined "Sunset Boulevard" revival opens on Broadway

When I owned my small business (1987-2011), I was bombarded with 'charity donation' calls and visits throughout the year, but especially November and December. These 'callers' would prey on small business owners, trying to pressure us into giving 'to the community' and doing it 'for the children'. The first question I would ask them upfront was: "What percentage of my donation goes to employee salaries and office expenses ?" It's a simple question, and if they're asking for a donation they should have the percentage available to donators. The callers would hang up immediately. The in-person visitors would dance around the question, and try to change the subject and bring up the good deeds the charity is doing 'for the children'. I'd remind them they didn't answer my question. "How much of my donation is going to your salary and office expenses and how much is going to 'the children'?" They would do another tap dance (that was usually accompanied by a gut-crunching hearty laugh, as though I said something quite humorous) and remind me of 'the children'. I reminded them for the last time - if I'm giving money to you, how much is actually going to 'the children' ? I would then tell them I'd do my own on-line research on their charity, and make my decision about donating tomorrow. Thanks for giving me your pamphlet, and I'll call you tomorrow. That would anger them, and they would turn on their heels and walk out the door. Once they left, I'd hit my computer and look up their charity. Nearly 100% of the time, less than 5% would go to 'the children' and the rest went to staff and operating expenses (and their office was always in a luxury office building in the high-rent districts of the city). Keep in mind - leased cars, dining out at fine restaurants, etc. qualify as 'operating expenses' along with office rent, and utilities. So remember - if you're ever asked to donate to a charity you're not familiar with, ask the simple question: "How much of my donation will be going to salaries and operating costs and how much to the 'children' (or 'war veterans', or '9-1-1 heroes', or 'abandoned pets', etc.). By law, they have to reveal that info to you as it's public information. And BTW, I believe it was TV program Suze Orman was on decades ago which clued me into this. IIRC the rule of thumb was 85% and more should be going to the charity - not the staff or office.
