He lists only English in his spoken languages, yet it sounds like English might be his 2nd language. I wonder if it's just a poor translation. That said, if he does speak another language, one wonders why he doesn't list it.

Pics #1 & 20 look like pics from his porn days, perhaps just to remind us who he is. If the other pics are indeed accurate, I'd say he looks hella more than decent.

The area's big tennis tournament, the Indian Wells Masters 1000, was canceled back in mid-December. If you're a tennis fan, this tournament is a really Big Deal.

LOL, true enough. The problem with opening a brothel is that they're only legal in the hinterlands, not in the two big cities (Reno & Las Vegas). I'm a city guy & wouldn't fare well in the middle of nowhere (think Eva Gabor in "Green Acres").

One has to wonder how much the campaign to recall Newsom is affecting the governor's decision to lift restrictions.

Thanks for the insight. So it wasn't the concept, but rather the execution. Perhaps one day ...

One of the Best "Gay" Movies I've Seen in a Long Time
BSR replied to orville's topic in Comedy & Tragedy
Thanks, now I get it. I was truly baffled by how the Venetian landmark tied in with a working-class Dubliner. The movie has mixed reviews on imdb, but in the trailer, the lead looks like a heck of an actor, as @orville points out. Might be worth watching for his performance alone. -
Wow, I would think it'd be difficult to stow away a domestic housecat onto a cruise ship. How on earth did he sneak in a cheetah?? I believe Siegfried & Roy's show was the first $100 ticket in Las Vegas. It was a breathtaking sum in a city where shows were once all comped or at most charged a nominal sum, just to keep the gamblers happy. Las Vegas recently lost three giants who each in their own way transformed the city: Sheldon Adelson, the convention king (he started Comdex, once the world's biggest trade show) and later casino king; Tony Hsieh, Zappo CEO who transformed Downtown (especially east Fremont); and Siegfried & Roy.

One of the Best "Gay" Movies I've Seen in a Long Time

Hopefully you can answer this without any spoilers: what is the significance of "Rialto"? Are they referring to the famous bridge? If so, how does that tie in with a Dublin dockworker? -
I have entertained the notion that if I won the lottery, I would start up my own strip club (full-monty of course - thongs? pffft). Of course I wouldn't make a dime; quite the opposite, I'd expect to lose money. But I'd hire a damn good manager to stanch the bleeding. I know a retiree who spends a fortune, and I mean a freakin' fortune, on golf (club dues, lessons, traveling all over the world to play on his dream courses). I'm prepared to spend on my retirement "hobby" what he spends on that silly pastime. I mean, come on, what's more fun? Obsessing over a little white ball or obsessing over some young stud's goody package??

If you could have chosen your first name, what would it be?
BSR replied to Merboy's topic in The Lounge
I like my first name just fine, but if I had to pick a different one, it'd be Leopoldo. Leopoldo is a name from the 1800s, but "Polo" for short is the coolest nickname ever. -
For me, Hank Aaron will always be the home run king. R.I.P.

I didn't know that conservatives supposedly dislike the Olympics. I have never heard anyone trashing the Games in any right-wing forums, social media, or my personal GOP circles. Since I haven't owned a TV for more than 15 years, I haven't watched Fox in forever, nor do I read their website. Another (incorrect) assumption on your part. Before you assume (there you go again) that I have it out for former Pres. Carter, please cite all the reasons the 1980 Moscow Olympics boycott was effective in changing Soviet policy. I'd love to hear your arguments.
-
You make so many assumptions. Sorry that your parents never taught you what happens when you assume. Partisan politics from 40 years ago are irrelevant today. I couldn't care less that Carter was a Dem. If he were a Republican or a Martian, I'd have the same opinion. If you want to start up a thread in P&R citing all arguments why the 1980 Olympics boycott was effective in changing Soviet policy, go right on ahead. I didn't realize that liking, or not, the Olympics was a conservative/liberal issue. I like figure skating in the winter, and gymnastics, springboard diving, pole vault, and track relays in the summer. I don't get how politics plays into one's appreciation of a throw quad salchow or a diver's sexy little Speedo.

I know it happened a long time ago, and I'm sure all the athletes affected picked up their lives & moved forward, but I still feel bad for the US Olympians who had to stay home because of Jimmy Carter's boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. It seemed like such a pointless political gesture, with no impact on Soviet actions in Afghanistan but a devastating impact on the athletes who trained so hard & sacrificed so much. I've heard buzz that the 2021 Games in Japan will be canceled again because of Covid. Is it out of the question to postpone them another year to 2022? Or maybe even host them in October of this year. In 3 more months, so many more people can be vaccinated.

Hmm, always two sides to a story. I read that the officials said that they had to be a stickler with the rules but that if Christian appealed the fine, he would win & the fine would be rescinded. So he's guilty/not guilty at the same time?? In any case, I'm happy for the guy. The last I heard of him, he was a teenager who didn't have the size (5'11" is actually a bit small for a pro player) or power to make it on the ATP Tour. Eight surgeries later, he's back & makes it to the semi of a 250. Good for him for refusing to give up.
-
Christian Harrison's only previous claim to fame was being the kid brother of journeyman Ryan Harrison. He fell off the map for a long time because of 8 surgeries, but at the ripe old age of 26, he got a wild card into Delray Beach qualifying, won 2 Q matches to get in the main draw, and won 3 matches to get to the semis. Christian had won only 2 ATP-level matches prior to Delray Beach. Click the link for a nice pic. Wow, I'd attend his matches just for the shirt changes.

"Two Catholic school nuns accused of embezzling about a half-million dollars in tuition, fees and donations from a school allegedly used some of the money to gamble in Las Vegas, according to officials cited in a news report. On Monday night, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles told parents and alumni at a meeting that Sisters Mary Margaret Kreuper and Lana Chang, described as best friends, took around $500,000 from St. James Catholic School in Torrance, according to an audio recording of the meeting obtained by the Press-Telegram." Apparently St. James Catholic School is not pressing charges. Hey, to forgive is divine.

Jeffrey Toobin, reporter for the New Yorker, was suspended while the magazine investigates an incident where Toobin pulled his dick out while on a Zoom call between members (no pun intended!) of the New Yorker & a local radio station. Toobin has apologized for his indiscretion, saying that he thought he was off camera. Wow, and the guy who was wearing just his boxers (but suited from the waist up) was embarrassed *teehee*

A man was busted trying to sneak 2 pounds of gold past customs, by shoving it in his rectum. He was caught when airport authorities noticed him walking funny. If I had all this shoved up my bum, I'd be walking funny too ...

By the way, have you heard the Sam Querrey story? Professional tennis player Sam Querrey tested positive for Covid19 prior to his first round in tye St. Petersbirg Open. Locked up in his hotel room, he refused entry to Russian health officials the first time they knocked. By the second time they came to his door, Querrey, his wife, and 8-month old son had fled Russia on a private jet to an "undisclosed location" somewhere in Europe. Apparently Querrey feared a forced 14-day quarantine during which time he & his wife would be separated from their young son. Ooh, he is in BIG trouble.
-
Oops, I forgot about the length of quarantine. Yeah, a 14-day quarantine when you scheduled just a 1-week vacation would, um, suck. Still, come on, a negative test 10 whole days prior to departure? That's all for show because you could have caught the virus umpteen different ways prior to getting to your departure airport.
-
Then a more effective measure would be to require incoming travelers to take a test upon arrival at the airport. Positive tests get quarantined, but negative tests are given free access. Sure, travelers might get infected while traveling within the country, but at least public health officials are preventing the Covid19-infected from bringing it in. A negative test 10 days prior to arrival? Pffft, that's not worth the paper it's printed on.
-
I don't understand the required proof of a negative Covid19 test - 3, 7, 10 days prior to arrival. Even if you were tested & got the result back immediately before heading off to the airport, you could easily get infected at your departure airport, in the confined quarters of the plane, and at the arrival airport. 10 days prior means you could have contracted the virus in dozens of different ways. It sounds like the requirement is more so that public officials can boast about taking measures than actually taking effective measures.
