Having studied public accounting and having several CPA friends I can tell you that many CPAs in private practice are either enrolled agents or have studied taxation.It is not unusual for a CPA with an undergraduate in Accountancy to get a Masters in taxation or go for a combined bachelor's/master's program in Public Accounting and Tax.

There are a couple of reasons for this. 1) I rely on my gut instincts when discussing a potential appointment to inform whether I should proceed. Even if a guy has hundreds of glowing reviews, when my gut says "no" then the appointment is a no-go. 2) A review is the reviewer's impression of the experience they had on a particular day. As you sated, everyone has an off day. Some of us have different likes/dislikes than most. A review can tell only so much. 3) My own experience with guys who have tons of glowing reviews has been mixed. The well-reviewed guys I've enjoyed are guys I would have hired had they not been well-reviewed. The well-reviewed guys whom I've not enjoyed are guys I hired because I did not listen to my gut and instead listened to a review. I learned from my mistakes.

Not sure how I missed this one the first time around, but I saw it now, so here goes. Like @latbear4blk, there are many bands and artists I feel a strong connection to, like REM, The Cure, The Clash, Blondie, U2, INXS, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, The Call (who happen to be a Christian rock band), The Church (who are not a Christian rock band), Fleetwood Mac, Hothouse Flowers, Cowboy Junkies, and so many more. I was about to send a note to Ryan Stone to see about hiring him when I next visit LA. instead, I sent him a condolence note. So sad.
