I absolutely cringe when I have to take the subway in NYC. Homeless people in the stations and sleeping on the seats on the trains, rats sometimes even on the platforms, open drug use, erratic behavior. It’s a horror show. Then when I’m in London on the Tube, it’s so civilized. Seats upholstered in fabric, and signs to keep your feet off the seats. Of course, it is more expensive than the NYC subway, but it’s worth it. I’m used to the Metro in Paris, but it sometimes does have its issues similar to those in New York with the homelessness and erratic behavior. Also love the Metro in Montréal and the subway in Tokyo, the one time I was in the Japanese capital.

In the 1980s and working at a branch of the late, great Filene’s in Albany, NY, I wore a variety of fragrances to suit my mood or according to the season. Most of the ones I wore back then don’t exist in their current form. Eau Sauvage by Dior in the summer, L’Homme by Roger & Gallet or Pour Monsieur by Chanel in the winter. The original Obsession by Calvin Klein takes me back to the gay bars of Albany although I never wore it myself. You could smell it everywhere. ln Manhattan in the 1990s, CK One by Calvin Klein was everywhere, another one I never wore but you could smell it everywhere you went. It was the return of fragrances that were considered unisex. The best memory I have of a fragrance is Santal Massoïa by Hermès, it brings me back to when it first came out and was the first cologne I smelled that seemed like it had seratonin actually in the bottle, it made me happy. I’m sure it doesn’t have mood enhancers in it, but it’s definitely happiness in a bottle.

Sorry to hear about Dominic Pacifico, I always thought he was so hot! Although he is adding to his tattoos, which is a turn-off to me.
