Chicago has a lot to offer and I think that certain guys do build a regular clientele but I would imagine that it involves some luck and finding the right niche. But traveling through can prove valuable for some guys or as suggested by eric winters above picking the right time.

Well, I can say yesterday was a nice visit in Chicago. The weather was great, which in my experience rarely seems to be the case.

 

However, I still won’t be fooled by the “potentional” of market. I still plan to work it a bit, but from a distance. I learned in 2009 when I wasted $600 going to Chicago for the first time, staying in nice hotels and a round trip flight, only to end up with 0 clients. Since then, I’ve passed thru about 2-3 times, and besides a couple of good clients here and there, it’s usually just passing by to look at the skyline, and then keep it moving.

 

I’m almost kinda over all these rust belt cities. Guys out here just act like they have no sense. I don’t know what’s wrong wit em. Waiting on someone today to send me my fee from last night, after the idiot had me coming out to his place and didn’t answer calls or texts. And my forgiving ass, I let this MoFo flake a 3rd time. Except this time, he actually had me coming out, and now I’m not playing with his ass.

I agree with you on many of these things. Chicago has really nice springs and falls (generally, for instance I was wearing a heavy coat last week) but there can be incredible weeks in spring and fall. And if you come in summer or winter then you have no one but yourself to blame. Though (perhaps due to climate change) our winters can have some very mild weeks.

I think there are a couple of the stars of the escort business who make regular trips here but then can get clogged up because they might have a lot people trying to see them. And then there are some stars in the making that escort starved Chicago go for but they only stay a couple of days. Of course, these guys are in a better position to tell you how they figure how to come or not than moi.

Finally, I am sure there are as many schmucks in LA and NYC as in the "rust belt". The midwest has a reputation of being much more restrained and polite generally than other places. Perhaps the deviation is for some other reason. I could not say.

Well, back then I had flown out there and stayed for about 5-6 days. The reason why I’ve returned since, is because I’ve started to travel to areas surrounding Chicago, and in the process I would sometimes advertise in the area and stop by. In one instance, there was a client who ran a porn company, and I was able to stay at the “bachelor pad” for a couple days.

 

I’ve also gone for photo shoot opportunities, etc. But I’ve never actually gone and paid in advance for hotels and waited around for biz like I did since 2009. So I’m not insane, I just don’t write it off completely and if I’m nearby and something happens, I’ll go.

 

I meet clients from Chicago all the time, but never when I’m actually there. I had one guy meet me in Orlando, but my previous texts showed he contacted me while I had a running in Chicago, but he never followed back up. Typical of what happens. They never follow back up in Chicago.

 

Not sure how your hiring another escort factors into the topic at hand. I’m sure there’s things being exchanged in Chicago, but what we don’t know is how long are these guys waiting for that exchange to happen????

Chicago can be fun, but I still have my reservations. For good reasons. Once again, it falls under the 25% rule of things. Which means whenever the AA population is at or above 25% in any given city, it’s going to prove logistically challenging to go to the market and try to make a presence. The best place to be as an ethnic minority escort, is someplace where you can stand out.

Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, and unfortunately at times Washington, D.C...don’t offer much of a chance to stand out. To them, I’m just another Black guy who should “get a job” instead of someone who’s in business for himself. The black guys who have grown up and local to the area, already have a footing on the scene. Newer guys stepping on the scene have a lot more to contend with.

 

Contrast that to your location of SLC. A place that I generally enjoyed a lot, until Grindr and Scruff started becoming more popular. Then I just kinda stopped going there as much.
