Watched this last evening via ON DEMAND. I thought it was an excellent film, but could see how it's not for everyone. If you're a fan of cinema and/or are aware of Gloria Grahame's work, then see it. Annette Bening was wonderful as Gloria, should have been Oscar nominated. Jamie Bell, as her young lover, was also excellent, as was Julie Walters as his mother. The film should have received more acclaim upon its release.

Totally agree. Saw it last night thru Netflix and it has many wonderful elements. One of them is the way that time is handled. It is a film that jumps back and forth in time however the way that it handled it is that you will be in one room in one year and then walk through a door into another room and it will be some time before. You will also see a certain scene from one character's experience of what happened and then see the same set of circumstances from another character's viewpoint later. As mentioned above, the performances are excellent, with Annette Bening being outstanding. Jamie Bell (of Billy Elliott fame - years later) is really good as Bening's lover. He definitely is one of those you will want to bed yourself. Both Julie Walters and Vanessa Redgrave give their usual bravura performances. It is a romantic film but also a sad one. Definitely worth seeing.

If anyone wants to see more of Jamie Bell, but in an excellent period piece about the Revolutionary War, check out TURN: Washington’s Spies on Netflix. He is the lead star of the series, and was also great in that as well. It was on AMC from 2014-2017, just prior to him in this thread’s title movie.
