NBC has decided to make the unaired episodes of the recently-canceled

show "The Book of Daniel" available (free) online, at:

http://www.nbc.com/The_Book_of_Daniel/

A new episode will be available each Friday, and will be there only

for a week.

The current episode (available until 2/2) has a significant story line beginning for the gay son, played by Christian Campbell. Don't miss it!

Yes, thank you. Just wish the video wasn't so dark. Or is it my old eyes? I can see why they didn't wait to cancel it after this episode. You couldn't leave people hanging with that ending.

Not just the cliff-hanger ending but the subject matter(s).

The amazing thing is that GLAAD and Focus on Family would BOTH have been claiming the series was cancelled for exactly the same reasons. One of them would be indignant, the other triumphant.

NBC defused both of them before this episode could air, but they're showing they had the cojones to produce it.

Thanks for letting us know about this link.

The cliff hanger caught me off guard. WOW!!

Too bad that NBC was not brave enough to stand behind the show and let it build an audience. Then again, All In the Family could not make it on network TV this day and age either.

Can anyone tell me how to get it fullscreen - the postage stamp size picture is too hard to look at for the entire hour (minus the commercial minutes ,I presume)?

I agree, what an ending. I can't believe this show didn't have an audience. I think they gave up too early. I am glad they are showing the episodes though.

If you double click on the screen you get full screen. To go back hit esc.

I just watched the latest episode as of 2/3 and all I can say is -WOW! The episode follows the gay bashing of Peter but provides much more back-story and character development.

It’s told in multiple flashbacks from three weeks after the gay bashing to two full years prior and we learn the circumstances of Peter's twin Jimmy and how he died. Many of the character motivations become clear. I am not going to spoil the surprises but Daniel faces one hell of a test of his values.

Had this show been allowed to build an audience it could have been a contender in the ratings.

Thanks for the reminder!

>been a contender in the ratings.

No kidding!

I wonder how much of the "internet airing" is a carefully planned ploy to get the content out there and how much is testing the waters of the internet as a viable distribution channel.

Either way, bring it on!

I think you might be right and this could be some kind of silent test to gauge the interest in specialized programming. However, I am not willing to give a network executive that much credit for smart marketing. :p

This latest internet installment was very powerful.

Given the quality of the writing/acting so far, it

is indeed a shame it is not being given better treatment

by the network. With its viewership (as a network)

at such a low point, you'd think NBC would try to

build something (audience/reputation) from such a show rather

than abandoning it in favor of another 'BIGGEST LOSER' concoction.

Although I am grateful they are letting the apparently small

audience continue the tale on the internet. It will be disappointing

to see it all come to an end.:(

Catch it while you can.

Missed last week's episode but, thank goodness, they have a summary.

However, I can't get the current video to run. I originally tried it in FireFox and it said I needed to use IE. So, I switched to IE and, when I click play, the picture in the video window disappears but the video never starts.

Anyone else having this problem? Could it be my firewall is blocking it?

I just watched it. No problem at all. I must say that I think this is a very compelling show. I hope someone like HBO picks it up. I was really moved by everyone. I found it so real.

just my opinion....

thanks for letting us know.

This week's episode is no less endearing than previous. It's the week of reveals.

Peter has a reveal when he comes face to face with both Adelle and her brother, with Adam loving the whole experience. Peter's ex shows up with a reveal of his own.

The bishops get a reveal when they walk in on Peter and the Ex, leading to another potential reveal.

Daniel gets a reveal through his mother's alzheimer-induced haze.

Having seen a few of these online episodes, I'm really feeling cheated that the show was taken off the air.

I also feel cheated. The final reveal at the end of the episode gives an interesting twist as well. And the action of the Christ character in that scene was powerfully subtle.

If anyone wants some interesting reading I suggest you check out the message board were fans and detractors of the show have been posting their thoughts. Needless to say NBC takes a tremendous amount of hard knocks for cancelling the series so soon.

Check out the thread called The End where Jack Kenny the creator of the show offers his thougts and insights into the entire situation. There is also another thread where he writes about the actions of the network and the opponents of the show.

After watching the wonderful episode online I

then read the words the show's creator offered on

the discussion board. I was very surprised and

deeply saddened to learn this episode was the final

one produced...no more are to follow. No plans are

in the works to revive or continue the story and

the characters to whom we've been able to grow so

attached in so few episodes are not returning.

Shame on NBC :-(
