So Arron Brown got the sack - just like Bill Hemmer a few months ago.

I will miss him - thought he was way cool. One of the more intellectual anchors around.

Oh well, we still have Anderson and his nifty suits. At least he plays on our team!

I will miss Aaron too. Anderson I can only take in little doses; he gets too hyperkinetic for me. Something about his delivery. But he's sort of cute. Aaron was more like a father-figure, unflappable and sage.

The new president of CNN made a big mistake in letting Aaron Brown go. Before that, he had canceled the Capital Gang. I like AC, but Aaron Brown has a depth of knowledge and experience which is disappearing. I liked his format, including the Whip (in which he covered news from around the world) and the morning papers, which was unique. He is from the old school of journalism. The news is focusing more on entertainment than good journalism.

CNN opted for more flashy news to appeal to the younger market and, therefore, get more advertisers. The ratings went up when they co-anchored Anderson with Aaron on Newsnight. Shame on CNN. Aaron is one of the last of his kind. There is talk that we may see Aaron back at ABC as the anchorman. (He came from ABC to CNN.) I wish him the best and hope his television career is not over.

Just to make things worse, Ted Koepel is signing off Nightline on November 28. I believe that was his choice. It's been twenty five years since Nightline with Ted Koepel appeared on the air during the Iranian hostage crisis.

IMHO. A. Brown was definitely very good at what he did every evening at 10 p.m. There was a definite Calmness and understanding of Current Events. Of course the guy I would personally love to see "GO" is Wolf Blitzer! The Look, Voice and Gloomy attitude he has about everything is unbelievable.

The "Situation Room", give me a break. I think CNN is really hurting! IMHO of course..

Hey Brook - I couldn't agree with you more. Blitzer's voice, delivery and appearance absolutely give me the shits!!! A most depressing man but for some strange reason his star is is assending at CNN - go figure.

I hope they don't decide to axe that hottie weatherman, Rob Marcianno (last name is probably not quiet correct but I'm sure you know who I mean). He is absolute stud eye-candy. It was especially cute when he was covering a weather disaster with Anderson and they were giggling like two school girls under a wind blown umbrella.

A "DREAM TEAM" anchor assembly for their morning news show would be the above mention Rob together with Anderson and hunky Bill Hemmer who was fired a few months ago. I don't think Hemmer has a brain in his head but he sure is pretty.

Bye Bye Blitzer should be CNN's newest slogan

RE: Aarron Brown - CNN

It is sad to see Aarron Brown lose out to a flashier journalist. I have had enough of the pretty newcasters and look for more substance.

Posted

I happen to like Wolf Blitzer. He seems most comfortable with the political stories, which he is very good at covering. I don't find him gloomy at all. I'm not sure I like all the aspects of the "Situation Room" that he hosts but I suspect he was put upon to include the likes of the Internet "girls" and that guy from the Morning Show (the crabby one who does all the polls). But otherwise he is a very capable interviewer IMO.

I can't say the cancellation of Crossfire is any loss. I think the last show I saw was when whazzisname (the guy who broke the Valerie Plame story) Bob Kovack?? stomped off the set because of something the ex-Clinton aide said (the bald guy James Carvell) God My memory for names is failing! Anyway, that show had degenerated badly.

I used to watch Aaron Brown when he was the lead anchor at KING-TV in Seattle. He was the consumate newsman then and continued that reputation as he moved into network news. I miss his candor and honesty in reporting the news. Liberal, yes, but in this world of rampant conservatism, he was my choice for the news. I will miss him and only hope that indeed he will move back to another, better network job.

>>Liberal, yes, but in this world of rampant conservatism, he was my choice for the news.>>

Are you living in the Land of Oz? Say hi to the Tin Man for me.

Where does this "World of rampant conservatism" exist on televison news?

Last time I checked we had ABC, CBS, NBC, CBC, PBS, and CNN versus FOX.

It's funny how some reffer to left-leaning news personalities as "intelligent", knowledgable", "having candor", "honest", and "understanding" when those personalities are "batting on yourside" and for your liberal philosophy.

How in the world can someone say the President of CNN made a big mistake? You're telling the guy how to do his job? LOL

How is firing Brown, a guy who had super LOW numbers, in exchange for an anchor who will attract BIGGER numbers a "mistake" from a business perspective?

I think it's the drone of his voice that gets to me - that plus the fact that he borders on ugly. I see know reason why my news can't be delivered to me by someone who is also easy on the eyes. Call me shallow!

>I can't say the cancellation of Crossfire is any loss.

Agreed - it was not much of a show - just a lot of puffed up men yelling at each other. But... I did miss it when Tucker Carlson left the show. Oh the fantasies I had about him and his cute little bow ties. Too bad he is homophobic.

That Bill Hemmer wasn't fired by CNN, Bill was snatched up by FOX NEWS where he's doing a super job. Perhaps, Aaron has had the same good fortune. (Hemmer is a very attractive guy, by the way).

Bill Hemmer looks great over on FOX with that other great guy Shepard Smith.

I watched often when they were together in New Orleans after the storm. One day they had on beautiful matching purple FOX News polo type shirts. Stunning.

Since you invited me, I will call you shallow. As far as I am concerned, when it comes to journalism on the air (as opposed to print), I want the same qualities that I demand from a newspaper. Truth, fairness, willingness to tackle difficult subjects, and a broad viewpoint. Mostly, I want to be informed so that I can draw my own conclusions. I don't need to be spoonfed a lot of pre-cooked pablum.

If the presenter also happens to be good looking, like the late Peter Jennings, OK. But if he is "ugly", as you put it, like Tim Russert (sp?) of Meet the Press, so what! If I want to salivate over "pretty boys", I go to the Campus Strip Bar just around the corner, when I don't look for "truth" or "fairness". After all, if there was any fairness, we would all look as great as these guys do! ;)

So the President of CNN is "shallow" for firing Arron Brown? Interesting!

As far as I am

>concerned, when it comes to journalism on the air (as opposed

>to print), I want the same qualities that I demand from a

>newspaper.

What qualities are those? That they be LIBERAL!

Newspaper circulation is down 10% on average because of their blatant liberal slant, and readers are getting fed up with it.

Truth, fairness, willingness to tackle difficult

>subjects, and a broad viewpoint.

Who's "truth"?

So the new anchor at CNN isn't going to be as fair as LEFT-LEANING LIBERAL Arron Brown?

A news journalist isn't supposed to present his personal viewpoint.

News analysts, news editorials, news columnist, and entertainers give us personal viewpoints.

>Mostly, I want to be informed

>so that I can draw my own conclusions.

That's one of the FOX NEWS slogans!

>If the presenter also happens to be good looking, like the

>late Peter Jennings, OK. But if he is "ugly", as you put it,

>like Tim Russert (sp?) of Meet the Press, so what!

I will give you one million dollars if you can show me where I ever called soemone "ugly."

If I want

>to salivate over "pretty boys", I go to the Campus Strip Bar

>just around the corner,

I prefer Club Taboo.

After all, if there was any fairness, we would all

>look as great as these guys do! ;)

That's what radio is for.

Muscle ..Well I never call the guy's IMHO that I think Hot "Stunning"... But I do get your point! LOL

I thought "Scooter" was both a Juvenile & Simpleton name, until I read BUSH calls him that.

But WOLF? Flat Out... When you are that unattractive you don't call yourself Wolf, and grow a beard!

also I have never understood the I want to look "Intellectual and Old" Like Freud Thinking? It definitely accentuates the Negatives..

That Whiney, Fast delivery to make everthing he is saying SOUND Important, is plain irritating!

This is In My Humble Opinion of course! LOL :+

Let's get the facts straight. Newspaper circulation is generally down because an increasing number of readers are getting the information they want from the online versions of the paper and other internet sources, not because of the liberal slant of hardcopy newspapers.

There are also numerous conservative hardcopy newspapers. Not all newspapers have a liberal slant. It just so happens that the very best papers, such as the NY Times and The Washington Post have a liberal slant.

Let us indeed get the FACTS straight. Fox News reported YESTERDAY that it was a COMBINATION of "readers getting the information they want from the online versions of the paper and other internet sources" AND THE LIBERAL SLANT!

Nice attempt to solely credit that decline 100% to "online sources". It's 50/50.

>

>There are also numerous conservative hardcopy newspapers.

Numerous? I submit the VAST MAJORITY of newspapers and "journalists" are flaming libs.

>Not all newspapers have a liberal slant.

Correct. Not all liberals are pro-abortion either. There are exceptions to most anything; however, the VAST MAJORITY of newspaers are liberal.

It just so happens that

>the very best papers, such as the NY Times and The Washington

>Post have a liberal slant.

HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Give me an *L* Give me an *I* Give me a *B* Give me an *E* Give me an *R* Give me an *A* Give me an *L*

What do we have: LIBERAL!!!!!

The New York Times is one of the most NOTORIOUS offenders for being blatantly, obnoxiously FLAMING LIBERAL. Not to mention your good buddy Jason Blair :)

The Wall Street Journal is one of the best papers out there.

RE: Aaron Brown - CNN

Bill Hemmer? Not as pretty in person as he is on TV. And not apparently not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Wolf Blitzer? Needs to take a chill-pill. I'm reminded of an exchange between WB and some guy about airline safety. WB was advocating allowing box cutters back onto aircraft. When asked what would someone need a box cutter on an airplane, he said that they may want to open boxes when they arrive. <sigh>

Anderson Cooper? People really shouldn't be that handsome and intelligent, but he is. He does get a bit hyper though.

Aaron Brown? I did enjoy his program. He did have a sense of calm and seemed to be able to take on both sides of a story when doing interviews.

CNN execs are idiots. Aaron Brown was one of their better anchors. I like Anderson Cooper too, but he was just moved from the 7 pm show to take Aaron's place, and Wolf Blitzer was moved into Anderson's time slot. Wolf's show is a bore.

But worst of all are those two stupid women who anchor the morning show now that they got rid of Bill Hemmer. Soledad O'Brian and her "oh so concerned" facial expressions is the most annoying anchor on TV. Unless it's her Barby doll deeply stupid side-kick whose name I have repressed. The guy on the show is ok, Miles O'Brian, but the repartee between him, the daddy figure, and the two anchor versions of the Hilton twins is pathetic for a supposedly serious news channel.

Posted

Sadly, Miles O'Brien is left to be the Funny man. He just ain't! It certainly isn't workin.

I am sure we will see more shakeups, in the near future for CNN...

I don't know if it is me or what, BUT the Women are taking over Daytime News? I guess there was a time when, there working for a Smaller Paycheck made them popular? Those days are gone now.

So is Babba Wabba! LOL :+

That's a strong word. Can you back that statement up with FACTS?

Aaron Brown was one of their better

>anchors.

Arron Brown was one of their worst anchors. HELLO!! That's why they FIRED him!! HELLO!!!! LOW NUMBERS.

Soledad

>O'Brian and her "oh so concerned" facial expressions is the

>most annoying anchor on TV.

According to Neilsen Soledad is doing well. That's why CNN snatched her away from NBC's Today show. God forbid those "idiot" executives at CNN would want high ratings.
