Ms. Dolly really is an absolute national treasure.Hugs,

Greg

Tracey Ullman has gotten a lot of mileage out of lampooning Judi Dench's status as a 'national treasure'. (Maggie Smith, as well).

I agree with GregM about Dolly Parton, and also think Cher is one. It's comforting to know she'll always be there, even after Trump brings about a nuclear holocaust with North Korea... Cher and the cockroaches will be all that's left after the bomb. She's said so herself.

Who would you nominate? Not necessarily great talents, just people that have brought joy and entertainment throughout your life.

Ms. Child

“A party without cake is just a meeting.”

“The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook.”

“I think every woman should have a blowtorch.”

“People who love to eat are always the best people.”

“Remember, 'No one's more important than people'! In other words, friendship is the most important thing--not career or housework, or one's fatigue--and it needs to be tended and nurtured.”

“Just speak very loudly and quickly, and state your position with utter conviction, as the French do, and you'll have a marvelous time!”

“The best way to execute French cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken. Bon appétit.”

P.S. I apologize if the person is supposed to be alive, like the Nobel.

Harry Belafonte

Th 1959 Carnegie Hall concert is one of the finest live albums ever, and only the second non-classical album recorded at the hall.

Harry started as a folk singer, recorded dozens of records, a film star, recipient of the 1989 Kennedy Center Honors.

But, he is best known as a civil rights advocate. Most of all Harry Belafonte is an American Treasure.

Truly Wonderful
