Titled “Michelangelo Divine Draftsman & Designer” barely covers this once in a lifetime show. Sculpter, painter, architect and poet one could certainly call him the greatest artist who ever lived. With 133 drawings, 3 sculptures and a wood architectural model, his work is exhibited with many other examples of his fellow artists. The work is only on view for 3 months and that’s it. Because of the light sensitive nature of these drawings they may never be exhibited again and will return to the museums and private collections that have loaned them. The works are exceptionally rare given the fact that Michelangelo destroyed many of his own drawings.

There’s also a section of portraits Michelangelo did of the beautiful young men he was attracted to. You might say Michelangelo has been officially outed by the Met. So not only the world’s greatest artist but the worlds greatest gay artist. Leonardo da Vinci might be a close second.

An exhibit not to be missed.
