You might want to include the fact you support, but did not start the petition....maybe no big deal but transparent. Although going to the link makes it obvious who started it

I do not want to underestimate anyone by restating the obvious. I am not advocating for no accountability. I just think the perennial ban is too much. I just think the forum wins with Adam and loses without him.

That is true, but in the eyes of "some" Lat taking action here might be viewed as "collusion", since Lars is unable to do so himself. Lats intentions are honorable.

I disagree. AS was a valuable and thoughtful contributor to this forum. His knowledge of Constitutional law and the historical perspective of current politics was invaluable, plus he had a wicked sense of humor. What transpired was of course unfortunate, and admin is certainly free to do as they wish, but I would like to see his return.

Does AdamSmith want to be reinstated? Is he aware of the petition? Has he tried to make amends directly? (He has an email address for Guy Fawkes.)

 

I appreciated AdamSmith's humor and his intelligent contributions to this site, and I'd be glad to have him back, but -- just my opinion -- I think those of us who know none of the circumstances that led to "banishment" (as opposed to a garden variety time-out), are in a poor position to sign a petition to Guy Fawkes.

Most Bans and Banishments are done so under secrecy, with deets only known to the admin and "alleged" offender. If WE the public were privy to the circumstances surrounding these extreme actions by admin, perhaps it might prevent others from similar behavior. ?

Adam does not want to return. I withdraw my call to sign the petition, I would delete this thread if I was able to. I over stepped out of enthusiasm at the possibility to have his world view back to enrich our diversity. Unfortunately, it is not going to happen.

 

So those saying this thread was a mistake, you were right. It is my fault. My apologies to all.

 

And one more thing. To all those warning me about going against @Guy Fawkes ' will, I think you all underestimate his intelligence, his tolerance, and his wisdom.
