Most of us roll our eyes when someone claims that this sort of thing is the beginning of totalitarian government. "That couldn't happen today. That was a (insert any country) problem, it can't happen in 'Merica. You're just overreacting." I'm scared of our current government. I hope upon hope that I turn out just to be another Chicken Little screaming about the sky is falling.

You are not alone. I have deep deep misgivings about this government's totalitarian leanings and the abundant supply of collaborators.

Is it ironic (I've always struggled with the definition) that the one comfort I have always taken from the lack of gun control is that our citizens are so well-armed that the government would never "try anything," and now, it's mostly those well-armed wackjobs who would support Trumpism?

I've had that feeling since Bush, Obomba and now. But what do i know? I'm just a dumb hooker.

So now both boys and girls should just keep their legs crossed.

There is now an online petition against this part of the law. Maybe voters should pull their heads out of their butts more often and pay attention to proposed legislation, not wait until its law.

The issue is related to a broad interpretation of mandatory reporting of sexual abuse, which no other district in the state shares this particular interpretation. Apparently even the legislators who drafted the legislation did not anticipate this interpretation, so a "clarification" is in the works.

But it's interesting reading the coverage on the various news sites, comparing the nuanced Washington Post reporting with the more sensational and outraged Fox News complaining the school district is "under fire for following the law."

My first reaction is 1984.

....and as a side note, remember to wear the appropriate color sweatshirt we tell you to wear at the sportsball stadium next Saturday.
