I feel like my former client (let's just say friend, to take the business part out) is making seem like this other escort is so much more succesful because he's escorting and working at the same time.

"Succesful", like how, in what?

That's what I'm wondering. I guess succesful in maybe...he is making enough money doing "that" work, so he doesn't have to rely on "this" work as much. Therefore, maybe he's willing to offer more time/discounts/freebies, etc.

For the same reason, he would be able to never compromise with himself: no more time, no discounts, no damn freebies, since he isn't so needy.

To me, in a sense, you would probably meet a more genuine escort than your average one.

Anyway this depends a lot on the income from the job, the income from escorting, the expenses, the projects in life and so on. Success is very subjective after all in my opinion.

"Success" means different things to different people. To me it means that someone is kind, honest, spiritual, nurturing and loving.

Your insecurity is showing again.

Who are you comparing yourself to?

Who are you trying to prove your success to?

Do you need to get the approval of everyone in order to feel good about your choices?

For you, isn't escorting a 'regular' job?

Stop trying to keep up with the Jones.

As for which I prefer... I care about my needs and desires. Clients don't hire an escort to deal with their issues. As long as your job doesn't interfere with your scheduling ability or the client's experience, then who the f--- cares?

You sound like a nice, sensitive guy who has a lot of interests. All keys to enjoyable conversations while cuddling, dining, etc. I don't see that a second job would add anything to the appealing combination you already possess.

You enjoy what you do. You're good at what you do. You provide an important service. And importantly you can support yourself doing it. Those are all pluses.

I'm sure some people would be turned on by an escort who has a regular job, but I'm not sure it's enough to have one as a marketing gimmick. The decision should probably be if you are making enough money to be happy, don't go looking. Escorting takes a lot of time, and it will cut into that. You are a business man, so make the business decision. If you need more income, consider a job. If not, just keep working on growing your business.

Ok I see, you got me on that one....I'm with you on that.

But let's be clear, there's no insecurity or keeping up with the jones. That's the last thing I try to do, and most people who know me no damn well that's not me. Hell no. I'm still with the iPhone 6 for fucks sake. Yeah, I have the credit to get the 8, 9, 10...but its better things I can do with $800 instead...which is what I do.

It's not about me comparing. I know that it's as much if not more responsibility as a regular job and I know what it takes to put into it. However, I don't feel that's being recognized enough by others (friends, clients, people on the forum). I know people aren't always going to understand and I'm not waiting around for their approval. Then there's the people who know, and those I'm not addressing.

Also it's not just this one particular case, but more of the cumulative things said overtime which is why I'm addressing it. Some people seem to use an escorts other income making gigs to somehow make them sound smarter and more successful. Or imply that doing this or that in addition is something I should be doing...such as porn.

Again, if they or I wish to do that...great.

That's the thing, it doesn't make me not have interesting things to talk about. Life experiences alone can keep a conversation going. Most people I know you are busily employed tend to talk about work a lot.

You're a nice guy Mocha. But this is the comment that drives a lot of behavior.

I'll reframe the question... who do you need recognition from? Why are the opinions of friends, (I'll leave out clients for the moment), people on the forum, so important. I think the most important opinion is your own.

Idk. It's hard to explain. I'll just leave it at that. You spoke for me, thru you. Thankyou.

Answering the question in your title...

Do I care about folks having a plan for after escorting? Yes, I like guys with their shit together. I know so many guys who retired with nothing but stories about their previous lives as escorts.

Do I think having a job/studying makes a guy more desirable more me to hire him? Nope... but if the client/escort relationship becomes a friendship, the fact that he has a plan and he ain't a fuckup makes his opinions and advice more appreciated.

I agree with Marylander.

I am attracted to savers (make more than you spend and make sure you can retire one day) and to well rounded people: someone who knows how to navigate the world in other ways, and so can jump on to something else when the phone stops ringing.

I think, from my perspective, the question was more about working a 'day' job in addition to his regular job of escorting. If it makes someone attractive/interesting/desirable. As opposed to, do they have a plan for a job after they've reached the point where the escorting job doesn't bring in the clients anymore.

I think we understand the question very well, and so the answer is “No, but there are other things that are related, that make an escort attractive”.

For sure there are other issues that follow. And I appreciate the "No, but.." approach.

Marylander went back to the original question "Answering the question in your title..." and then answered it as if he was talking about being planned for his future.

Just trying to be helpful. :)

Good question. I've often wondered whether the escort I'm seeing is earning income outside of escorting. But in the end it doesn't really matter to me. What matters is the quality of the experience. If I've established a regular thing with an escort personal info at times will be discussed but always remains private. Lastly it doesn't make me desire a guy more or less of they have another source of income.

I know, I've read the question and your conversation with @Mocha I was just adding a different perspective to the subject.

I hope the word helpful was sarcasm...

Yeah, he actually answer only in his second paragraph, which is confusing given the first sentence says “to answer your question”. Fair enough.

I have never thought about it explicitly but thinking back to my favorite escorts yes actually they did have other jobs or were in school. So in answer to your question for me the answer is “yes.”
