Anyone into astrology and horoscopes?

 

I remember the late porn model Leo Ford was into it. I was on his snail mail list (no internet back then) and he offered a service so one could get their horoscope cast.

I think there is SOME truth in astrology ("as above, so below") simply because the planets move according to a certain pattern and life on earth has its patterns as well. Yet it is easy to see a lot there that isn't there. I do not believe you can predict exact events, like a motorcycle accident, but you probably can forecast what days may be more difficult for you personally to travel than others. I have noticed that when the moon monthly is opposite my Neptune, there are more people on the roads cutting in front of me and surprising me from behind than usual. Is that astrological or just coincidence?

 

I have relatives who are very religious and once told me I was worshiping Satan by having some interest in astrology, but I just told them that the three wise men wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the Christ child if their studies of the heavens were that evil. Any word ending with "ology" basically means the study of, not the worship of. People generally don't worship a zodiac sign.

 

Where I find it most interesting is in the personality profiles. Of course, you could have a birthday in July and be a sun sign Cancer but have all of your other planets and the moon in other signs like Leo, Gemini and so forth. Are you a "typical" Cancerian? Probably not. Also Vedic astrology in India has you in the preceding sign anyway. Some think that kind is more accurate than the "western" kind.

Regarding the presidential curse that began with William Harrison, it was probably over when Reagan survived his assassination attempt in 1981 and George Bush II survived the 9-11 attacks (one plane initially planning to go to DC).

I had a friend who believed, and I proposed an double-blind experiment. She didn't know my birthday, so I'd give her two dates, one my real birthday and one not. Both precise, including time of day. She'd cast (is that the right word?) two horoscopes from those, give them to me without indicating which was which date, and I'd see if one of them described me more accurately than the other. She never did get around to doing them, though :-(
