Colton Ryan. Has anyone seen him as the understudy for Evan, Connor, or Jared? He's cute.

Born and raised Kentucky-fried, this 21-year old is a recent "graduate" of the Baldwin Wallace Music Theater Program. He is finishing his degree with an internship at the Music Box Theater as an Evan/Jared/Connor Standby in Dear Evan Hansen. In his spare time, Colton likes to enjoy anything superhero/Star Wars/sci-fi/crossover-related or exclusively listening to the one and only, Kanye "Yeezus" West. He loves to cook (or at least try), read old books that he was assigned in high school but never read, and play fantasy football. He sometimes likes to act and sing. Colton's latest roles were Tony in West Side Story at Baldwin Wallace, Freddy Enysford-Hill in My Fair Lady for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival/Great Lakes Theater this current summer and fall, and Ryan in the regional premiere of Theory of Relativity at Playhouse Square last spring.

Can Tony winner, Alex Sharp, sing? He gave an excellent performance as 15 yo Christopher in "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time". He's 27 yo but still has a very youthful look. If he can sing, I think he might be a good choice to fill Ben Platt's shoes.

I was going to remark that I unfortunately did not see Alex Sharp in his Tony Award Winning Role in 'The Curious Incident...".

He had one or two scheduled days a week where his understudy/standby took over. I guess it was due to the rigors of the part. It was quite a strenuous role as I remember.

Taylor should be interesting

If this is the 'best' I hate to think what the worst is. I see no charm, charisma or restraint. He strikes me as one of those performers one can never like as much as he likes himself. And he can't sing either. I hope he doesn't turn it into a joke.

Interestingly enough, the understudy/standby was Taylor Trensch. It had been really hyped. I had a feeling it was going to win the Tony, and it did.

It's very possible my tastes are not as discerning as lots of people here on the Forum. But I saw 'The Curious...' while on an overnight with the former escort Arek probably within the 1st 6 months after it opened. Arek and I, unless he was just being pleasant to a client, both thought Taylor was really good in the role. I was disappointed about not seeing Alex, but I thoroughly enjoyed the play*.

*The only part I didn't enjoy was while I was outside standing in line to get in. I had set up an overnight with Arek. I hadn't seen him for a year possibly two or three. We weren't going to meet until we met at the theater. Well he was running a bit late, I kept scrutinizing every new guy who walked towards the theater to se if it was him-difficult with me not having seen him for awhile. Plus I think he told me he had beard-which I had never seen him wear before. So I'm looking for bearded guys. I was afraid he was going to be late. It all turned out ok.

If this is current, he's lost a lot of the weight he was carrying in Pitch Perfect 2. Is he trying to look sexy here, because to me he only looks a little dyspeptic.
