I'm looking to go to Miami. I've never been and think I'd love it with all the hot Latinos.

Any suggestions on where to stay that is safe and reasonable... close the glbt clubs and working boys?

Thanks.

If you've never been to Miami, then you need to know the basics.

First off....there's few" safe" place in Miami anymore. Put the whole Latino fantasy land utopia idea to the side. Not on South Beach or the Mainland. That's why many of the locals have moved to Broward and Fort Lauderdale, but even then..."Miami" has moved out as far north as Orlando...plus up in Broward can be kinda cultureless and not walking friendly. But, they have Wilton Manors which is the twin Palm Springs of Florida.

Now, someone will probably come and hoot and holler about me being negative, but I'm from Miami and had I had this conversation with my friend who moved to Miami to fly for AA...he probably would have still been alive.

Plus, realize many of the "hot Latinos" aren't always gay and if they are, they tend to have a strong preference for other Latinos. Not saying that means anything for you, but there's a certain way of going about things. I let the Latino guys in Miami talk to me first, I don't talk to them first. Of course it may be different if you're looking to hire...which you can do on South Beach or Downtown Miami where the LGBT clubs are. As far as I know, there's only a couple on the Beach that give ease of doing so.

That said, if you go with moderate expectations, don't be too overally unaware of your surroundings, don't leave cash or wallets or cell phones in plain view and find a nice hotel along Collins or Washington (that's a hint right there, as Ocean Drive can be VERY expensive even though it's only a block away)...plan ahead, you can have a great time.

Miami is lots of fun. You will love the cubans they are wild. I think the city is running out of places to go. They closed palace and there are no gay saunas in Miami. they are all in FL. Fun city tho!

South Beach has a boon of new hotels...both renovated and new from the ground up...that have opened over the last two years. For that reason the prices have come down for even the ocean front. Best bets are across from the ocean on Collins. New hotels include the Hyatt Centric, Gates, Berkeley Shore, AC, as well as the Catalina and the Riviera. Go on the Hoteltonight app. Sometimes you can grab one of these at 49 a night...some oceanfront like the nautilus have been at 149.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Lol oh the Berkeley shore....it's renovated but not new. I seen it a few years ago looking really nice. But 12 years ago me and my ex were on south beach on foot looking for hotels (before all the apps and priceline stuff came out). The only available reasonably priced hotel in town that night was the Berkeley shores for $60 a night. It was a cute art deco room facing the street, one window cracked out compete with foot long roach in hallway and paper thin bed with an odd FULL sized refrigerator in the room. It was an "experience" lol.

But yeah South Beach has changed infrastructure wise, but it's still Miami. I'm saddened that palace is closed, I had no idea. But the south beach gay scene has been moving out for years. What's left is not really my cup of tea.

I should have mentioned also now thru September or October...hotels are on off season and can be had for quite reasonable. The expensive part I was referring to on ocean drive isn't so much the hotels but more like drink/dining prices and parking and such.
