Paradise Sauna in Chicago

Has this place closed down? I called and the number was disconnected. I'm told that they recently remodeled. Anyone know the story?

Still going. They closed in July for renovations and put the price up to $35 when they reopened. I've been a couple of times since it reopened and it seems markedly quieter (maybe the price or the fact that it's summer).

 

Usually a good time, owners pretty much know what is going on but turn a blind eye as long as folks are discreet. Draws an older crowd most of the time, but there are usually a few younger guys, if that's what you're looking for. Either way, cool to chill naked and no-one cares if you sport a hard on.

Interesting that they upped the price after the remodeling. I haven't been since the work was done. What did they work on?

Thanks, Jollinar. I also got the number from Google . Nakedchi, they rebuilt the sauna and I think they updated the showers.

Was just at King Spa earlier today. The facility is nice and lots of hot guys though you'll most likely check each other out. It will be hard to interact with anyone. It was nicr to be checked out. Some cute guy was following me around it seemed. Nice boost of ego LOL. The steam room itself is so small that it could only seat 9 people unless you want to stand up the whole time or theyu allow you to squeeze in and be elbow to elbow with a couple of them. I don't think they're comfortable enough to allow that

I went there about 1:30. There was a nicely dressed woman at the front desk. Totally not what i expected from some of the reviews I've read. I half expected this old cranky looking witch. She was super nice and smiled at me during the check in process. The price to get in was $ 35.00. I read in nermermouse reviews that it was only 25, so they must have just recently changed the price. They had single use flipflops for purchase. Not sure what the price was as i brought my own. I didn't know what to expect so I didn't want to walk around barefoot. The lady behind the desk noticed I was a bit confused as to where to go so she directed me to the mens locker room. I want to stress again that she was SUPER friendly to me. Lot of reviews I've read noted that she was rude to them. Maybe it was a different lady? who knows....

The locker room was very clean, nice lockers. Nothing looked worn down or old. I was impressed. I undressed and placed my robe in the locker (they give you a towel and robe to wear if you choose. Oh and you can purchase the use of a second towel for 1 dollar!.

 

The main room is large, with showers along the walls and they provide shampoo and bar soap to wash up before you get into the hot tubs. The main tub was decent size. Probably fits 10 conformable, with room to spare. There was a dry sauna and another hotter dry sauna off the main room. Steam room was large. Reminded me of the steam room at Steamworks, but maybe bigger one large room vs the longer room at steamworks. The steam room was VERY hot at one point. When the steam kicked in. I couldn't see anything in there and had to actually stand because my calves were burning lol. Once the steam turned off for a bit, i did go back in and it was a decent temperature. Every aspect of the place was clean and in working order. I was not expecting that based on the all the reviews I'd read. I was pleasantly surprised.

 

Now, when i first walked in I expected it to be super "Cruisey" so i kinda had that self conscious "omg is he checking me out and Do i look ok" feeling . I think your experience there will depend on your mind set when you go in. There were 3 other guys in there when i got there. A larger man, a muscle stud and an average joe......I don't like labeling people like that to be honest but just wanted to get across that seems to me that all sorts of folks go there. There was absolutely some cruising going on. Two of the guys were engaging in oral sex in the dry sauna and then moved to the Steam room. Assuming because the steam provides a bit more "cover". The other two guys in there (remember there were only 3 other while i was there) were also engaging in oral sex in the steam room. There are no real private areas in there. Nothing like a "back area" or darker area to really "play" with out being seen. If you're going to cruise or engage in activity other than spa activity, be prepared to have an audience (if there are a lot of people in there). To be honest, from what I've seen personal and what I've read in past reviews, those that like to play there don't really mind others watching.

 

I was there for about an hour and half, when i got dressed , there were about 5 more people changing into towels and heading into the spa area. So about 3:30 it started to pick up a bit. On the way out, i noticed the nap room. Darker room, with flat lounge chairs to nap on. It was very clean and a TV on the way with the volume pretty low. There was only one guy in there when i peaked inside so not sure if that is a room where any cruising goes on.

 

It was a nice experience. It's definitely good for those that just like the spa amenities like the hot tubs and saunas (i love steam rooms and hot tubs) and I think lot of potential for a little afternoon delight.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't sound like a very big place. There's probably a lot more traffic in the evening or on the weekends when people are not at work, but also more audience to watch.

I've usually seen a good crowd Friday afternoons, but weekends are definitely busier. I'll have to check it out again and see what improvements they made, and if they're worth the increased entrance fee.

Not sure what it was like before I went for the first time the other day, but the place was nice and very clean. The locker room looked brand new. The dry sauna looked new. The wood benches in there were very nice and clean. All the reviews I've read on google yelp led me to believe the place was a total shit hole. I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the place.
