Last week during a trip to Florida I did what I have been meaning to do for a while. I bought a laptop and a router for wireless access. I LOVE IT. I am no longer trapped at a desk. I can surf the web and participate in the MC while watching TV. For those of you who do not have it - this is the way to go.

Isn't it just the greatest? You never have to be off the net again (if you're in a big city anyways). There are all kinds of [a href=http://www.wififreespot.com/]free[/a] wireless hotspots out there. Enjoy your new toys errr tools!

I saw that shit. Cities have pretty good lobbyists too though, so I expect a real fight over this one. Municipal owned wireless kind of scares me, though, in many ways. Can you imagine discussing via IM or e-mail your fetish fantasy scene proposal with a prospective client, all the while knowing this info's flowing through and being logged to the city's routers and gateways, easily sniffable if u don't encrypt properly. Kinda scary stuff, if you ask me. Call me paranoid and give me my tin hat, but I don't want that particular Big Brother sniffin' around in my binness TUVM :o

WiFi

A while ago, I believe someone posted a listing of free hot spots. One excellent such site is: http://wi-fihotspotlist.com/ and another good source of information is: http://www.jiwire.com/

Using both (or other sources) is bound to help you find what you need in just about any city. I tend to just go to the nearest Apple Store, if there is one, but many cafes (non-chains, mostly) are offering it free as a service to patrons.
