Hey guys,

So I would like to increase my skills on how to detect fraudulent ads (both to help myself and others here), and I have read snippets on how you guys do it, but I don't yet get it, especially the "this photo is being used elsewhere by someone else part".

First I need to get the photo isolated from the RM website, but I can't seem to do that, RM does not let me save the pictures of the escorts, when I do a right click on them. That is the case with IE and with Chrome.

Once I have an image, though, I can use image.google.com, that part I have easily mastered, but how to get an Rentmen picture into it is my issue.

How do you guys do it?

Rent.men doesn't let you click on a pic and save it. Or, at least, I can't.

Rentmen does if you select and save a "thumbnail," not the main pic.

Ok, and thumbnails can easily be searched on google, and helps you find the original image if it exists elsewhere, I found some on Instagram for example using that method, so that is good, I can progress with this.

Right click on the thumbnail itself, in many browsers, it says "save photo" in the list of things you can do.

Yes. With my browser I have to save the pic. Seems that other folk's browsers allow them to immediately insert it to Google images.

How does one "save a Thumbnail"?

Don't hit it with your hammer! ;)

Sorry...in my browser - only on Rentmen, not Rent.men - I can right-click on a thumbnail (the photos to the right, not the main) and save it to whatever folder.

Right, Google Chrome gives you the option of searching by right-clicking. It oddly only works on the thumbnails, though.

In firefox and Rentmen.com (I hate Rent.com):

Run through the photos once or twice. Right-click in an area not over the photos. There will be an option,

"View Page Info". Click on that.

When the new page opens, click on "Media".

You have a list of options. Make sure "size" is in the various tabs.

Double-click on size, which will put the items in size order, descending. Photos are normally the largest.

Save the photo.

If you want to post it here, click on the URL and then post as in any photo.

And after being successful to have that pic on yr laptop or yr iPhone, what app/website do you use to find out whom that pic really belongs to?....

It is very reliable and I usually get hits on Google image search. You could also try Tineye to do a reverse image search but I have never gotten hits on that site. You could also just download any reverse image search apps or look for reverse image search sites.

Windows has a very simple method. Go to the SNIPPING TOOL; I put it among my tiles so I have it handy. Then when you have the picture you want, whatever size and wherever, just click on SNIPPING TOOL; use the cursor to outline your image; and SAVE. It is extremely easy and convenient and works on every image anywhere. It is a great gift from WINDOWS.

I have been successful since yesterday in simply using "image.google.com" and clicking on the camera icon. Then you can upload, or you can also give the direct and full URL to the image from the website where you found it.

I'm wondering what the hell happened to the Google image search? It used to be much more thorough and specific. At some point they changed the format of the outcome, and it's often not so helpful any more. Occasionally it does come up with good results - but when it doesn't, the results it does come up with seem so odd - often pointing to one extreme generality of the pic (like a search for a pic of an escort with his shirt off will return one or two examples for "barechested," but nothing at all to do with the specific pic or any other aspect of it). That's not the way it used to work.

Agreed, it's coming up with some very vague matches - it always puts something like "Best description for this image" and lately it's just coming up with "MAN".

If you want a laugh, google "Hairy basketball players". You'll see Michael J Fox in "Teen Wolf" somewhere early in the results.
