I haven't built a PC from parts since around 1990, but the basics haven't changed since then.

If you're trying to plug something in and it doesn't want to go you might be trying the wrong hole. Think it through.

Otherwise, unlike with people, there's only one way these things can couple.

Ha ha. :p

I have a tutorial I pulled from your friend Google. Just wanted to have someone more savvy on standby in case I follow this tutorial and still screw something up.

you are wiser (and braver) than I am.... but do let us know how this goes!

make sure the power pack you buy exceeds the power of all the components you are using.... trust me.. had a computer blow up on me for that mistake :p

For gaming pcs, it's all about keeping you computer cool. As someone suggested, it starts with a power supply that is able to handle everything that's plugged into it. They also sell special cases that can help cool down your system. The tighter it is inside the computer the harder it is for the heat to escape.

The other thing is environment. DO NOT put the PC in a closed space where heat can build up. And if you have a pet DO vacuum up the pet hair daily, or it will accumulate (and infiltrate) your PC's vent, making that sucker overheat. You might be surprised what a can of compressed air can blow out of those vents.

But that's not just for gaming pc's. it's for any pc.

I have a friend who is a real techie. Genuine skills, not imagined. He builds his own.

But, sometimes, that can be "too smart"

He's my only contact who reports that my emails arrive a jumbled, unreadable mess.... even when he's only one of many recipients.

I've had several gaming PCs custom built, but never tried to assemble one myself.

I just don't think it would go well....I don't even like checking my own oil.

And even having a PC Gaming Pro build it for me was a pain in the ass.....have fun!

Yes, many years ago I built my own PC. Very easy. Much easier than soldering the printed circuit boards for my first Knight Kit amplifier. Some of us are old enough to remember Heath Kit and Knight Kit amplifiers, receivers, ham radios, etc....

It isn't hard... Just follow the instructions.
