Great news! That's why it's so important to speak out. As "Joe in DC" just posted on americablog.org:

"This whole experience sends a signal to other corporations. Don't try to fuck over the gays. If Microsoft had to back down, the rest of you don't stand a chance. Don't think that other corporations weren't watching to see how this played out. And don't think elected officials weren't watching, too. Now, we have to use this same energy on elected officials."

Boy I am really impressed with the articulation of "Joe in DC." I wonder if there is any way we can steal him to post over here, cuz it seems really hard for some guys here to express themselves without resorting to a quote from a blogger like Joe.

Surely Rick, you could have said something eloquent yourself...or, are you really Joe?:)

I would have preferred to quote John Aravosis, as most people credit his one-man crusade against Microsoft for the big turnaround today, but he's apparently traveling and not posting.

Speaking of eloquence, what are you waiting for, Lucky? Surely you can do more than just critique others' posts. :7

With supporters like this who needs enemies?

I rather doubt that Microsoft 'had to back down' or has to dance to anyone's tune. Microsoft is the real 500 poound gorilla, even if not by my doing. They made a poor choice for poor reasons a few weeks back. They didn't like the light that put them in when the spotlights came out. They went back to their comfort zone realizing that they are the 500 pound gorilla and don't need to shrink from anyone. Like it or not they are the only game in town for the righteous ruffians, the flaming queens and everyone else in between save the few of us independent diehards left.

This guy shares one thing in common with his righteous right brethern. The mouth is much bigger than the brain.

Isn't this diatribe now political? Move it....

diatribe: A bitter, abusive denunciation.

You're right. Saying we should make sure our elected officials support our civil rights is really bitter and abusive. Let's move this horrible trash out of here immediately. :+

I don't really know if it's a "bitter and abusive" topic or not (maybe I should use an online cut/paste dictionary?)...I just know it's become political and should not be here.

God forbid that your precious eyes should have to read anything that is out of place forum-wise. You'd make a good librarian. Just think of the hours you could spend refining the Dewey Decimal System.

Hmmm.... I see the thread (so far) as a literary review of style and content of an e-columnist, or more precisely the shortcomings thereof. That and remarks on alpha male gorillas to act like alpha male gorillas. Go figure. :7

Now I do concede that Rick's Motown comment was on the edge as well as out of place here in Hotown. :p

Someone more sensitive than me about what belongs in the Privy? Who knew? :o

Zoo comments aside, there is a line between written discourse and literary review of written discourse even political discourse. I haven't seen it crossed yet. It is early though. :7

Being gay in the USA in the Year 2005 is a political act. This concept has been true to a greater or lesser degree for the last 35 years, reaching its height during Gay Lib and the AIDS crisis. Since these discussions were driven by "us", opting out, though maybe not noble, could be overlooked. What's different in the last few years, is that the politicization is being driven by "them". The former luxury of being able to remain apolitical has been diminished if not taken away by this shift.

I've made it clear that I fail to see the point in banishing threads from the Lounge to the PR&W forum. But if TY can give a millimeter, so can I. :-) When a discussion deals explicitly with the intersection of homosexuality and politics (and by extension down that slippery slope, the intersection of homosexuality and religion, especially since religion and politics are so often the same thing nowadays), I hope the moderators show the same lighter touch they have shown recently as far as locking off threads. If it is nothing more than Tom Delay or Pope Benedict bashing, then leave it to the other forum. Discussions in the Lounge on what is important to the contributors here about being gay (or lesbian or bisexual or transgendered) are too interesting to have them reined in by fear of broaching the invisible line into taboo subjects.

Hooboy said it very clearly what is to be on this forum

"A place to gather and exchange ideas. No Politics, No Religion, No War. Take these topics to the appropriate forum."

He even capitalized the word NO. How can anyone doubt his meaening?

It depends on what the meaning of "meaening" really is. I for one am sick and tired of gays like you that find this news anything other than of a celebratory and protective nature. How has this thread being here offended you? I mean what is your issue here really? I suggest the next time you find yourself alone, in a bad situation and in need of help, to call Pat Robertson. I'm sure he will place your call in his appropriate queue. With all that is good about this post, you have the need to color it bad because of it's positioning on this MC. I would hate to be an escort being reviewed by you, because although the experience and orgasm was good, you'd find a

way to critique it as being not, because you were not on the "right" side of the bed when you.....God, I dont want to even imagine.
