Places to stay in Russian River

Hi,guys!

 

We are 4 guys who will be in San Francisco at the beginning of August. We only have a few days and are planning to stay in Russian River overnight on a Friday. I realize that is probably a bad time to try to get a couple of rooms for one night.

 

Does anyone have suggestions where we could stay?

The above posted web site address is for Fife's Russian River resort. I have stayed there several times over the last twenty years and have always had an enjoyable time. There are numerous types of accommodations here so choose that which suits you best. You can rough-it or luxuriate. Enjoy,

August is probably a perfect time to go and you might, if you can modify your plans, try to go for more than one night. It is about a 2 hour drive from San Francisco each way and there is much to do, including the wine country both in the Russian River area and nearby.

 

Besides Fife, there is also the Woods (more low key, more mixed, sometimes more women, ask them when you book), the Triple R (Russian River Resort - definitely the more cruising but also sleazier), and a few more. The Inn at the Willows used to be a women's only place but I have no idea what it is like now, but it and Fifes are the only properties that actually face the river.

I have stayed at Fifes and, if you want a more male environment, it is probably the nicest and best of the choices. If you wanted a slightly more upscale and relaxed enviornment, I would go for the Woods, but to be honest, a friend owns a house in Guerneville and I always staying with him and have for the last six years, so I have not really stayed in any of the resorts (other than to use their pools) since 1999.

RE: Russian River

 

Thank you for your suggestions. Fifes sounds great! Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, we only have Aug. 4, 5, and 6 and want to spend at least one full day in SF, one day touring the wine country, and one day in Russian River, then back to SF to fly home on the 7th. We are planning to take hot air balloon ride in Russian River. Seems they set out around dawn.
