Trouble accessing Rentboy?

Hey Guys,

 

It is Sunday, just before 11:30 a.m. EST. I have been trying to access Rentboy all morning, and I get a message saying something like: the amount of traffice exceeds the site's capacity. Was wondering two things:

 

1. Are any of you having the same problem, or is it my own computer?

 

2. Is this something like a thread in another forum about some guy who floods escorts phone message systems with hundreds of messages, thus preventing other (legitimate) clients from accessing them?

Seems to be running very slow

Its been extremely slow since Friday night late. Once you get in it takes forever to get through the listings for the large cities NY and LA, and if you pull a guys "more pics page" up seems like it kicks you out and you have to start over again.

They operate their own servers, so when something goes wrong, especially during non-office hours, it just falls apart.

Hey there, this is Cyberpimp... I work for rentboy.com. I just wanted you guys to know that we had a problem with Verizon that cut off our primary internet service to the data center from Friday til early Monday morning, even though we were dilligently trying to fix it the entire time. We also had a problem with one of our rendundant servers over the weekend that started working more and more poorly until it was fixed by one of our engineers at 11:30 Sunday Morning. We were operating the entire site traffic through a pair of T1s that were totally saturated... normally we have 24x more bandwidth for you! We are in the process of a gut renovation of the software as well so that we will use 2/3 less bandwidth to deliver the same service or better! But for Rentboy 5, we will all have to wait for the Autumn (well those in this Hemisphere).

 

I apologize for the poor service over last weekend. Customer service is very important to us.

What I find curious is that even though accessing the content was extremely slow and difficult-say almost impossible, all the very annoying flashing ads at the top and btm of the screen seemed to be working perfectly through the disruption.

Nothinlg wrong with Rentboy that upgrading their 80386 servers wouldnt improve. Seriously they dont have enough crunch capacity to load all their flash advertisements and serve client requests simultaneously. Sluggish performance is the rule not the exception in my experience. You see where the prority goes. But then advertisers are the paying customers.

 

The ones really getting screwed are the escorts. They pay but don't get their pages loaded in a timely manner. Can you image getting in the back 20 pages of the NY listings. I doubt they see sunlight until midsummer. I wonder if they get hit statistics on their pages. I doubt it.

IMHO...Rentboy 4.0 was a BIG Improvement, most Definitely..5.0 Version is definitely much needed. The Guys on the "Tail End" of 20 pages definitely do get screwed.(not nicely) I think still, running your AD continuously, on the First 3 pages.. still costs more for the Escort to pay for? BUT most "Interested Parties" I am sure, make the contact way before Page 20 comes up! LOL :+

Some one is not really taking advantage of what has been given to them.

 

They may want to pick up a good few books on creating enterprise web applications and the use of server resources as a VB specialist I have dealt with things like that before.

That site is the sorriest excuse for a listing site that I have ever seen. x( x( Besides the fact that they don't have very many listings, the gawd-awful music is soooooo fuckin annoying x( x( x( , and that "shooting gallery" style moving target across the top of the page which you're supposed to use to navigate the site had to have been created by a sadist. x( x( x( x(

 

Come to think of it, the site is SO bad, if you haven't gone there, it's worth it just to see how bad it really is. :+

hey ncm2169 thanks for the comments, do you have others you would like to share and as a matter of fact does anyone else have comments about the site and how it can be improved ?

 

I spoke to the owner of the site and he asked me to write a response as he is very interested in all comments.

Hey BABB, I don't know if you're shilling for this damn sorry-ass site, but it sure sounds like it. What gives? You send me a private message telling me that you've contacted the site owner and he has made the changes I suggested - but nothing's changed.
