...There was a lot more than delivering his lines. There was a great deal of physical stuff he did that must take an enormous amount of strength...I get exhausted just thinking about it.

@foxy, I totally agree about the “physical stuff” in this play. Not only did Nathan Lane’s character perform a strenuous work-out, esp during his painful fit in the hospital bed, but so did Andrew Garfield & his 2 wet-dreams involving the angel. That struggle with the angel & her wing puppeteers was exhausting just to watched.

You couldn’t help but notice that during the 3 curtain calls that Garfield was exhausted. And, then, he had to deliver the Broadway Cares Appeal for AIDS.

A truly amazing production. Seems gay theamed revivals are making a come-back on Broadway. I already purchased my tickets to see Boys in the Band which opens in previews 4/30.

I may be only able to see Part 2 - Perestroika on Sunday, May 6. Yes, I did see the original Broadway cast. Is seeing Part 2 better than not seeing it all -- even if I am a bit confused?

@WilliamM. Part 1 sets the stage for Part 2. I agree with you that seeing Pt 2 is better than not seeing it at all. Since you’ve already seen the play & are very familiar with the plot, I doubt you’ll be confused. Go & enjoy! Looking forward to reading your review.

Broadway's currently running National Theatre revival of Tony Kushner's Angels in America has extended its run for an additional two weeks, through July 15. Originally announced as an 18-week limited engagement, Angels in America began previews on February 23, and opened on March 25 at the Neil Simon Theatre.

Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Marianne Elliott, Angels in America stars Academy Award and Tony Award nominee Andrew Garfield and two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane. The company also features Susan Brown, Denise Gough, Amanda Lawrence, James McArdle, Lee Pace, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Beth Malone, Patrick Andrews, Glynis Bell, Amy Blackman, Curt James, Rowan Ian Seamus Magee, Mark Nelson, Matty Oaks, Genesis Oliver, Jane Pfitsch, Lee Aaron Rosen, Ron Todorowski, Silvia Vrskova, and Lucy York.

Returning to Broadway for the first time since its original 1993 production, Elliott's revival had its world premiere earlier this year in a sold-out run at the National Theatre.
