One of my pet peeves:

It's DOMINANT top! Dominate is the verb form and dominant is the adjective. Even the review form here makes this mistake.

We want a dominant top to dominate or do we want to dominate a top?

RE: Discretion assured

As a born proofreader, I learned long ago when to let go and let people spell away however they like. With the internet, it's a good thing too ... otherwise the men in white coats would have had me years ago.

That said, I've been waiting for a thread like this so I can get in the typo in the world of escorts that someday will send me over the edge. I doubt that any escort in the long history of escorting has ever been DISCRETE. It's a perfectly good word and your spellchecker has no problems with it, but it has very limited uses, none of which apply to the world of escorting. Look it up if you like, but just know that you guys are DISCREET.

Posted here by me on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. Btw Pac, the men in the white coats haven't come for me yet, but I've had a few close calls. }(

< Being the rapidly advancing middle-aged anal-retentive middle-school champion speller that I am (was?), I often cringe at Escort listing info, as it painfully reminds me that a whole generation of American youth (or two?) has been schooled such that they CAN'T FUCKING SPELL!! I've been keeping a list of my favorites. Anyone care to add to the list? Just for fun, of course

Of course, some escorts combine excellent spelling and grammar skills with, well, a certain level of candor. Example (name withheld -- you can find him yourselves):

< I don't want to come across as some arrogant prick, which I am not, but I am confident in my looks, features, and performance. It all comes down to the fact that money talks. >

I guess that about says it all. :+

We have an escort here in CT who used to advertise that he is litarate. He has changed the ad to

" very clean, sincere: passive bottom, yet not placid !!greetings: i am youthful with long thick hair and some fair talent while being toyed with... i like to relax and allow most reasonnable safe clean fun to be introduced and expanded on with you and your friends... i am flexable an soft, both in manner and in physical appeal. i would not be very forward, but could certainly forward any suggestions you may have. with the right situation i could easilly enjoy being available at flexable time."

I cringe. ;(

I have to admit that 'dominate top' drives up the wall - and I refuse to re-type that sentence!

Several on your list make my top ten - especially 'versital'.

A few of them look like typos to me - 'becasue' and 'maek' are the sort of typo I make when one finger gets ahead of the other and I transpose letters.

And I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't even figure out what 'confodece' is!;(

Those two, specifically, are in fact so common they're two of the default "auto-correct" entries in any copy of Microsoft Word.

It says nothing pro or con, but they really are extremely common typos.

(Of course typos coupled with near illiteracy is a baaaaaaaad combination. ;-))

Confidence?

Fantacy is another one.

It's not just escorts; I'm almost totally blind to my own typographical errors, and yes, it has been pointed out to me that there are such things as spelling checkers ....

Egads! Besides making no sense, this...uh 'passage' introduces two more pet peeves: the inability to capitalize and improper punctuation. This poor fellow seems to think that a comma and a colon are interchangeable. He also believes a period can be replaced with an ellipsis. While he may not feel he warrants a capital "I" when referring himself (and far be it from me to pass judgement), proper grammar dictates that he do so. Failure to comply should be punishable by public flogging as should the failure to capitalize the beginning of a sentence. The use of an ellipsis (...) in lieu of a period should also be punishable by flogging (okay, I like flogging), but more importantly, this offender should be fucked so hard for improper substitution of a colon for a comma that his own colon begs for mercy! :9
