Houston Hooboy Memorial Meeting

Who's interested in meeting in Houston for a Hooboy Memorial. Time and place to be discussed and announced.

I am very up for it. (Sorry it took me so long to answer this, but I just found it. I was up in Dallas for the weekend serving as an assistant to the teacher in a CBE class.)

If you want the quiet time type memorial, I can suggest a certain tree in a certain park where I have attended several baloon flights over the years.

However, I think he might rather be remembered in a bustling place with noisy people telling good stories, etc. So, I would suggest Barnaby's on West Grey, perhaps the big round table. Maybe this Saturday afternoon (the 26th) at, say, 2:30 - purposely late to avoid a bit of the lunch crowd. If this date and time sounds good to anyone, please let me know. I won't be there unless I know someone else is coming.

And, of course, I am open to a different time and place. I just have always found it easier to change something that is in place than to start from scratch.

I made a big goof. Maverick, my other half, reminded me last night that we had already agreed to drive over to West Texas this Saturday with another couple to see the bluebonnets. Please accept my humble apologies. Would anyone else like to make a suggestion on time and place? Or would y'all like to go ahead with this one without me?

Since this has only been a 2 way conversation thus far...lets move it the the following Saturday 4/2 same place same time. Maybe we will hear from a few more by then.

That next Saturday afternoon I will be leading a group erotic massage for Body Electric graduates and their guests. That morning would do. (So long as I'm home by 1:00.) So would the Sunday afternoon.

I'm sorry I'm being such a nooge about this. I'd be more helpful if I could, believe me.

So, would 11:00 Saturday or 2:30 Sunday be better, do you think?

I wonder if there is a search function that would sort the profiles by city?

I'm certainly up for a local meeting of the site fan club. Maybe the afternoon of Sunday, April 10? Maybe Barnaby's?

If anyone from one of the other coasts where they have these gettogethers remembers how they got them started, maybe a sort of how to thread would be nice?

City is an optional field in the profile. Intentionally. I suspect it's empty in most profiles.

 

This site giving out email addresses would be a huge breach of privacy. Sorry. (That's the thing about data ... almost anything cool or useful you could use it for is a breach of SOMETHING. ;-))

What time? (Any time 2:00 or after is fine with me.)

On Sunday 4/10 I can do it at 3:30 earliest...Saturday earlier in the afternoon works too.

I have found from scheduling group Body Electric get togethers that guys consider Saturday to be for errands, etc. and are much more likely to get together on a Sunday afternoon than a Saturday one. So, so as not to rush you, I will be at Barnabys on Sunday at 4:00. I will be wearing a purple t-shirt with a lion head on the front of it. Hope I'm on time. But I'm not always on personal things. So I may be as late a 4:15. Remember, guys, just because you haven't been contributing to this thread, it doesn't mean you're not welcome at the do. And, if no one shows up, I'll have some excellent french fries.

A suggestion:

 

As HB loved the city of Houston, why not hold court in his favorite place to eat & watch the pretty people walk-by: Ruggles in the Montrose area.

 

I can recall with a huge smile the times we spent there, bumming around while polishing off a bottle of wine. They have a pretty good menu, the waitstaff is all primarily gay and the atmosphere relaxed. As i said above, it's just a suggestion

 

If i'm in Texas, i'd love to join. If possible, could someone who's doing the organizing please send me a private email? Thanks so much guys. Appreciate it.

Thank you for the suggestion. I think that’s a great suggestion given Hooboy’s ties to Houston. Ruggles does Brunch until 3pm on Sunday, and dinner starts at 5pm. I will change my other plans if the consensus is that brunch is preferable.

I am glad to know that we will have this additional tie to Hoo as we meet. I sure hope that you can make it, Benjamin.

Since neither Maverick nor I drink very much at all, I had forgotten that it might help some others come if there were a bar available. That is, I guess, another reason why Ruggles would make more sense this first time.

However, I might not agree to it being there the second time as our impression is that it is a bit pricy there. I guess that I'll see about that when I get there. I may be wrong - hope I am.

At any rate, I am committed to going to 9:00 service at RMCC and then volunteering in their bookstore for an hour. So don't expect to see me anywhere before about 11:15ish. What time do you think we should get together, Benj?
