We worked our first event during MAL last month and were quite pleased with the response. Is it normal for big events to be a busy time for hiring or was this an anomaly? I was/am concerned that all the hookup apps, interaction on dance floors and in the venues would occupy a potential client's attention.

Maybe for this type of event. The escort population grows significantly in Chicago during IML.

It was surprisingly larger then, too, than what I'm seeing now in DC. Maybe the leather-focused client is more likely to hire?

Not being leather focused, can't say. Not a lot of experience so still vanilla. However, can't see why you wouldn't be successful anywhere.

I think MAL is different kind of event, I know escorts who get the hell out of the city during the whole week while others who enjoy the "leather" come over to town.

We did some of that as well. It was a real mixed bag, but most of the guys were local. It will be interesting to see what happens on our next trip up there for comparison.

When I was in town for MAL most of my clients were not attending MAL or they didn't even know what it was. Since it was my first time to D.C. in a long while, I made sure to gather some market "data" for myself to determine if it was usual hiring traffic or increased due to MAL.

 

Yes, but you're a special case because you're a pornstar and you have your followers. Those guys would have seen you anytime of the year even during a snowstorm.

IML again this year is at the Congress Hotel. Calling it a dump would be generous. Caveat emptor.

There are other hotels nearby that are not as "dump-ish", e.g., Hilton, Renaissance, Blake. All are within steps of the Congress. Residents of the area have gotten used to people wandering around wearing less and having what they are wearing be leather. That is just a suggestion. Of course, that makes room to room blowjobs less available. Or maybe not as many of the hotels have IML people in them. I don't think you have to stay at the Congress in order to attend events. But I am not 100% certain as I don't generally attend.

Never stayed at the Renaissance or Blake nearby, but stayed at Hilton. Nice hotel. Room actually had 2 bathrooms.

Me too. Just got back from Hawaii last week. Did the same trip last year, and couldn't stand the 20 degree weather upon return so went to Miami the next week. But this year, not so bad.....yet.
