2016 was my worst year ever.

I was firmly confronted with my own mortality.

I faced the sickness and death of people in my life.

I saw loved ones become isolated and fall apart under the stress or life.

The political fiasco which dragged through the whole year, ended in a decision to which I am dramatically opposed philosophically.

All in all, 2016 was the worst year ever and there are only worse things to come.

2016 was my best year ever.

I was confronted with my own mortality but danced off the edge of death and found a resounding resolve to live life to the fullest.

I faced the sickness and death some friends and relatives, yet I was able to comfort them and I was able to offer them love as they shuffled off this mortal coil. I was able to see the blossoming of a new generation for my family with a greatgrandniece and a greatgrandnephew.

Though the love of some I know stumbled, love flourished for others. I attended several weddings which united in marriage partners traditional and newly traditional. All in all, people still strive to find happiness and dedicate themselves to building a life together.

Though political discourse dragged through the year and new depths were plumbed in the attempts to gain power and control, the process, the foundation of our liberty, though battered and beaten by great forces, survived.

The rise of those to whom I am dramatically opposed, strengthen my will to work harder to try to insure that the political directions taken are more in keeping with my own views. I also came to more fully appreciate that I can be strong in my convictions when faced with dogged opposition.

All in all, 2016 was the best year ever, and there are only better things to come.

The choice is yours.

The choice is yours.

Wait, I have a choice?

Kidding aside, great post!

I like the concept of looking at the glass, watching the water be poured into it, and then choosing which way to look at it: half full, half empty or just ignore the glass altogether and wonder who poured the water.
