I always Google Wikipedia for the area codes of phone numbers to see where the phone area code originates from. The 917 area code is one of the first area codes for cell phones from 1992 and was used in all the boroughs of NYC before other area codes were added. I highly doubt this young kid has had his cell phone since 1992, in fact he looks like he was born in 1992. He's in Philadelphia using a NYC area phone number but doesn't say he's traveling, just be wary. My guess is fake.

I just don't think area codes mean anything anymore. My MagicJack area code for home and burner phone for mobile have no relationship whatsoever to even what state I live in. Google phone, etc, makes geo locating by area codes fruitless

I'm getting calls from area codes all over the country...they are all Indian Pharmacies. Luckily I don't get a lot of out of state calls for my business because I let 99% of these roll over to VM

True. When I got my tracfone, when setting it up, it asked what zip code it would be used most often. You can pick any zip code in the country, and will get an area code associated with that zip code.
