Quick note of praise for the current production of Small Mouth Sounds by Bess Wohl (directed by Rachel Chavkin) as presented at the Linney Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center.

 

It's really good. And "experimental" mostly in the sense that there is little to no dialogue. And maybe in that the environment is somewhat immersive. The play follows six people who have gathered over several days at some woodland center for what is to be a silent retreat. It's deft and funny, with compelling performances from every member of the cast. And depending on where you're seated in the intimately configured space, there's some extended male nudity that can provide quite the show...

 

Not for everyone but, if the setup and the premise intrigues you, you'll likely be delighted.
