Many health plans pay 100% of the cost, much like they do with the flu shot.

And don't forget the other vaccines: HPV, Hep A and B, Shingles and Pneumococcal (if you are of a certain age). Wouldn't hurt (much) to bring your Tetanus/Whooping Cough up to date either.

Pneumococcal is sometimes indicated for asthma patients.

Absolutely get a meningitis vaccine if you have oral or anal unprotected sex with men or your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/partner/wife engages in such activity too. I think I discussed this and all other currently known STDs/STIs and vaccines in another thread pretty extensively. I'll look for it.

 

Also, PLEASE discuss your sexual and travel activity with your doctor. I say this, because in the USA, the B, C, & Y serogroups are the most common meningococcal disease. However, if you travel to other parts of the world, you may be at risk for the A and W serogroups too. The vaccine currently recommended for MSM Americans addresses the B serogroup.
