Mid 70's for me

If I had a choice knowing what I know today I would love to go back to the mid 70's. On what fun it would have been :9

When in doubt I whip it out :+

I think a trip back to the mid-70's would be a great idea. We could use a refresher on the potential for an oil crises and the true nature of the middle east. Perhaps if the lesson had been learned THEN, we wouldn't be in this mess (but then again, maybe so, who's to say?).

Except for the sex, which was fantastic, I thought the 70s were fairly grim when I was living through them (Nixon/Agnew scandals, Mideast war, oil crises, inflation, collapsing dollar, Iran, etc.--sound familiar?).

The '90's? What do you mean? Last thing I remember I was twirling on a dancefloor somewhere to Dead Or Alive's "You Spin me 'Round". Then I wake up, and it's the 21st century, and I have this unimagineable balance due on my credit card.

I don't know how this happened!

I had a great time in the 1990's. The transition from high school to college was immense and exciting for a lot of people, myself inculuded. I loved the innocence of being a young adult in the 1990's. Attended classes during the day, worked at night, party hard and at times get drunk on the weekends. Alotta fun.

I loved the music of the 1990's as much as I did of the 80's. When Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers recorded the song titled " Free falling ". I along with a lot of young people at the time felt it was a really cool song to hear on Top Forty Radio and play on the acoustical guitar. Offcourse when U2 came out with that album " Achtung Baby". It was one of the hottest selling albums in the early part of that particular decade. It was like, if you were hip, they were the guys that everyone had to see in concert.

Along with Dr Dre, Snoop Doggy Dog and P-Diddy changed the face of rap music. There was like a revolutionary movement in the world of rock music that would take center stage and become the staple of music. The Seattle Sound that came out in the form of bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden. Green Day, Oasis. America became sort of guitar crazy. All these Heavy Metal Bands suddenly became Alternative Rock Groups overnight. It was way cool for the time. Offcourse to have the first Rock N'Roll generation occuppier in the White House, Mr Bill Clinton. From his appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show with the Alto Sax in hand, his T2 shades. He definitely personified the coolness of a new generation to rule the world of politics. Dont really remember much of the fashion of the decade. In my case, I was trying to experiment with different hair colors, trying to impress the girls at the time. In a general sense, I remember the Gap replaced Millers Outpost as the place to shop. The whole decade was an exciting time, I'm glad to have had the chance to grow up in the time frame that I was part of.

I'll tell you what I miss the most about the 1990's. Family members and friends from high school and college who have passed away over the years. All but left are memories, soon they will become fading distant lights, lost in an ever so changing world. Days of life that seem so unimportant, dont seem to count until much later on. Like the story that we wish was never ending. This has been the hard part for me having walked away from the 1990's. I now question mortality. I'm conscience of the fact that nothing lasts forever.
