Anyone else having hotmail issues. Slow response, servers busy. Have not received any mail in two days. They did upgrade site. When I try to contact MSN the email forms error out.....

I'm glad it's not just me. My Hotmail keeps locking up. Usually works for a while after 4-5 tries of shutting it down and starting up again. I keep sending the error report each time.

Hotmail is currently doing several things:

* Increasing space allottments

* Increasing attachment size limits

* Removing POP access (no more Outlook!) for free accounts

A couple of other things.

They're not exactly known for "issue-free" upgrades to begin with. Get several going all at once and it's not surprising they'd have issues.

I've experienced the same problems. But I also had a more serious problem that I wanted to warn others about.

I have one Hotmail account that I use strictly for eBay purposes. Last week my password didn't work for that account and I found that my eBay account was also suspended.

Hotmail personnel were very helpful getting me access to that account which had been "taken over" by someone in Spain. I don't know how they hacked into that account but they changed my profile, password, and who knows what else. (I did verify that my PayPal account associated with that Hotmail account was not compromised.)

When I contacted eBay they admitted suspending my eBay account because they "suspected" there was a problem. (They never did tell me what specifically happened.)

The good news is that I've finally got things resolved. But I've learned a very valuable lesson. I will NEVER access Hotmail again on a public computer. When traveling I'd routinely use the computers in the hotel office center or public library. No more.

I'm now a firm believer in changing passwords often and making them very difficult to guess. (Sorry guys, I've had to stop using the names of my favorite escorts as passwords.) ;-)

Call this a coincidence but someone out of Madrid (Spain) tried to access my computer twice this week.

In May I had a similar problem -- my eBay account was compromised (an unauthorized charge that bypassed the usual e-mail notices), and then shortly thereafter the Hotmail account connected with it. eBay has had many problems with hackers, but they won't admit the problem unless confronted (they did eventually rescind the charge). I've talked with Hotmail helpline several times and supplied the information they wanted, but to no avail -- the Hotmail account is still lost. Can you give details of who you contacted at Hotmail? (You can reply to my Hooboo e-mail, if you want.) Thanks.

Check you HooBoy in-box for a copy of the e-mail I received which eventually resulted in the problem being corrected.

But, I personally think it is doubtful they can (or will) recover an account from last May. Perhaps I was just lucky and got to the right people (or got preferential treatment because MSN is my ISP).

I often have troubles with Hotmail, but the last few weeks have been smooth sailing. Except when someone writes from an AOL address, in which case my emails inevitably get bounced or I simply never hear back from the prospective client.

AOL vs. Hotmail - I have written hotmail to complain that customer service does not mean having a feud with AOL that affects customer service. I cringe everytime an escort has an AOL account as I know communication via email will be hit and miss.

I'm no Hotmail apologist, but I suspect the lion's share of this problem is on AOL's side.

Not sure if it's still this way, but the default configuration for AOL accounts used to be NOT to accept non-AOL e-mail.
