Mid-air collision over the Grand Canyon....a TWA Constellation and a United DC-7, both flying out of Los Angeles, collide at about 21,000 feet.....directly led to fundamental changes in air traffic control and creation of the FAA

 

my mother, a young stewardess at the time, worked the same TWA flight the next day....some tense hours for her parents on the day of the crash....
