Interesting concept. However, as one who has spent many a night in a hotel bed, the weak link I see is the check-in process (or picking up the key). I've spent long waits in line to check-in. The worst was when I had to stay at a local hotel in the city I worked. At the time, I lived 25 miles away in the burbs. Even with traffic, it took less time to drive from my home to the front door of the hotel, than it took to get from the front door of the hotel to the front desk to check in. I'm talking over an hour just to check in. People were not happy.

Maybe the hotels should have apps where you could put in your info and credit card and it gives you a 4 digit code and when you arrive at the hotel lobby there are ATM like machines where you enter code and it dispenses your room key and you can head right up to your room.

Hilton Hotels now has an app that allows customers to check-in and, when the hotel's rooms are equipped with RF locks, open the door using a smartphone.
