North Carolina police are seeking a 56-year-old woman who, they claim, last month sold a used deep freezer for $30, with her mother's lifeless body inside, PEOPLE confirms.

According to a police statement obtained by PEOPLE, an arrest warrant has been issued for Marcella Jean Lee of Goldsboro.

Lee is charged with one count for failing to report the death of her 75-year-old mother, Arma Ann Roush. Additional charges will likely be filed in the case as detectives continue their investigation, police said.

Police believe Lee moved from the Goldsboro area soon after selling the deep freezer. Roush lived with her daughter and had not been seen by neighbors since last summer, police said.

Roush's body was discovered on May 27 by the freezer's new owner, who told detectives she bought the freezer from Lee, her neighbor, who said she was moving to Virginia.

I hear the old lady was really cold hearted.

One wonders if the freezer was running the whole time, and if so, will the neighbor use it, or RESELL IT:eek:!

A: That's not funny ...

I really can't like the following but I have to admire the (grim) cleverness:

Cops love to close a cold case.

The idea of something like this happening gives me chills.

The freezer has probably been taken in as evidence and so it is probably in cold storage.

Honcho, I cannot tell you how to live most authenitcally, but being a closet pun lover is a difficult way in which to go through life.

You are wrong if you think that those around you fail to notice the unguarded smirk. They do and they are perplexed. They sense the suppressed laugh, the concealed chuckle and then whisper to each other when you are out of earshot. You may believe you can live a life in which you convince those of your circle, that the ironies of Proust and the subtle cerebral comic ministrations of Sir Francis Bacon are the only efforts to draw your humor to the fore. However, sooner or later, a whoopie cushion will go off, or an outrageously bad groaner will catch you in an unguarded moment and you will find your underwear sopping with uncontrolled urine and your hands clutched to your abdomen unsuccessfully trying to control the spasms of laughter so long held captive in the dungeons of your superego. Take it from one who has been there, it is better to just come out and admit that you believe that a bad joke is better than no joke at all and that there is a U in PUN.

Honcho, I cannot tell you how to live most authentically, but being a closet pun lover is a difficult way in which to go through life.

I am unabashedly out as a pun-partisan :)

What I didn't "like" about the remarks was the subject matter - not the manner about which it was commented upon.

[There was not yet evidence presented whether there was outright matricide, criminal neglect, or some relatively minor laziness in not properly reporting a death from natural cause or stinginess in not wanting to pay cremation or burial fees, but none of these exactly warms the cockles of my heart].

I'm sure folks have noticed that many times, rather than just "Like"-ing a posting here, the subject matter of which I find odious, I will tediously go to the trouble of quoting the post and thank, or endorse the post.
