I too live in Rogers Park - moved here from Los Angeles nearly 2 years ago and wish I had done it decades sooner. I have an apartment twice the size of my L.A.studio for half the price, I'm a 5 minute walk from the lake beach, parks, movie theatre and shopping. One one side of my building I have Sheridan, Broadway, Devon, Clark - all busy streets - and to the other, quiet, tree-lined residential areas through which I walk at all hours of the day and night without a worry (I know what areas to avoid!). The city of Chicago is in a lot of financial trouble, has a high crime rate (68 people shot over the Memorial Day weekend), racial strife and crooked cops but in spite of all that, it's the best place I've ever lived.
