I read this morning that the AMC CEO has backed off on this and has no plans to allow texting in their theaters.

Going to the movies is going to be more fun than ever! Open-carry + stand-your-ground + theatre-texting = a whole barrel of monkeys worth of excitement.

 

Frankly, texting doesn't bother me as much as open conversation and a running commentary during a movie.

I made a rare visit to the ballet a few months ago and two ladies behind me were jabbering thru the entire first act. At intermission I gave them an angry lecture about ruining the performance for those around them and they meekly disappeared - I don't think they had any clue what they were doing. The lack of self-awareness that you sometimes see is astounding.

I think theater chatting, ugh, is a legacy of TV. At home, people talk while watching and they now bring that behavior with them to the theater. Horrible.

I talk while watching at home, but I like to think I've learned from Mystery Science Theater 3000 how to NOT talk over the actual dialog in a movie.

Yup, after AMC caught a lot of flack for it on social media.

 

I never understood the need to text or look at your phone constantly, especially in a venue where you pay to watch something other than your phone.

 

We're slipping into Wall-E territory way faster than I thought. Lol!
