The Vespertine Circus (based out of Oakland, CA) is a small collection of young, ambitious oddballs on a quest to spread joy and absurdity. Our troupe is inspired by both the iconic and small, traveling, family-circuses that first swept across America around the late 1800s; and the theatrical, dance-infused, animal-free, indoor contemporary circus movement. We weave circus arts into the context of narrative theater, with characters you can relate to and stories that focus on personal-growth and human relationships.

Ah, there are few places but Oakland CA where one would consider nudity a part of a family circus...

Many dancers that I know (male and female) are married to MUCH older men.

I'm not real sure why that is, other than dancing doesn't pay the bills...at all.

Seriously, I think professional tuba players make more money. As professional

dancers these people have amazing bodies, are dirt poor, and they are exposed

to very wealthy older men who like dance. So in the spirit of Salt-N-Pepa, the

dancers "use what they got, to get whatever they don't got".

For the record I never called these men unattractive. Their bodies are obviously

incredibly muscular and stunning, but I'm just not as sexually attracted to them

as the simple math of adding up all of their parts says I SHOULD be...that was my point.

Once upon a time I was a tech roadie with the Utah Ballet. Although I was too closeted to even wink at any of the guys, their sight and SMELL filled my wet dreams. I never even tried!!!!! (Regret #127)

What a shame. Don't you just wish you could go back in time & romp with those gorgeous fit guys?!

I've gotta find a way to meet these men. I'd love to meet a starving dancer. Or any starving hot guy. I haven't figured it out so far...

Start with season tickets to ABT and see if you can really stomach the "dance world"....personally I find it a bit boring.

If it really is "your thing"...move up to being a sponsor....the ABT has a ridiculous number of levels.

Just realize the more you spend the more interaction you'll get with the dancers.

Unless, you're a billionaire...forget about the principals you'll be seeing on stage...but you'll slowly get contact with the "family of dancers".

Eventually, you will meet some starving dancer who needs your support.

Although beautiful...all they think and care about is dance. Dance, DANCE....you have been warned!

My work here is done.

Adrian Blake Mitchell, a recent graduate of the Vaganova Academy recently joined the Mikhailovsky Theatre. Trained primarily in New York City at Ellison Ballet, Mitchell joined the 273rd graduating class at the Academy of Russian Ballet named after Agrippina Vaganova. During this year he performed principal roles on the stage of Mariinsky Theatre. he also had his debut as Prince Albrecht in the ballet Giselle. At only 21 years of age, he performed this iconic role at the Rimsky-Korsakov opera house under the direction of Oleg Vinogradov. Vinogradov is the artistic director emeritus of the Mariinsky Theatre and longtime mentor of Mitchell. During his time studying at Vaganova Adrian received many opportunities to perform on the stage of Mariinsky. He was the first African American student to be afforded these opportunities, as well as to the first to graduate from the highest class in 2015. On the Stage of Mariinsky, Adrian danced a principal character role in the Ballet Laurencia, as well as a cavalier in the historic and original production of The Nutcracker. He also danced the role of Prince Sherri in Sleeping Beauty. In April 2015 Mitchell orginated the principal role in Max Sevagin's Elementarium on the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. He also worked with Russian Ballet stars Farouk Ruzhimatov, Yulia Makhalina and Nikolai Tsiskaridze on many roles in the Classical Repetoire including Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, and Scheherezade. Adrian's talent has brought much attention by school directors, and he has been fortunate enough to receive scholarships from several prestigious ballet schools and summer programs to complete his training. In his early years these included NYC’s School of American Ballet Summer Program, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Miami City Ballet and The Harid Conservatory.
