This sounds like it could be fun, and as somebody who doesn't really participate a ton on here, it would be a nice way to meet some of the other forum members.

Add you to the list?

I have two restaurants in mind, Nookies in the Edgewater neighborhood and Honey Butter Fried Chicken in the Avondale neighborhood. Both offer up really good foods.

The more I think about it, I really like Nookies for this event. Something about the name just seems appropriate. :D

Are there ever any meet ups in NY?

Not so far, but that doesn't mean some of the NYers in here couldn't organise one. A word of caution, with two meetings each year and possibly a third in Chi-town, they remain distinctive events and many of those who attend would make an effort to attend them all. Any more and they become a bit like a weekly happy hour (ok, so I exaggerate) that people don't think twice about skipping if something else comes up. I used last weekend's lunch as a pretext (or catalyst) to visit DC again and would likely take advantage of other meetings as an excuse to visit other cities.

At present there is the regular DC meeting on MLK Day weekend and the Palm Springs meeting in March or April. I think there is scope for three 'annual' meetings. Although the plan is for a Chicago meeting over Memorial Day, that makes three meetings in just over four months. That's fine for now, but if there is to be a regular third meeting it might be better to have it on the Labor Day weekend to spread the meetings out a bit more. The third meeting could be at a different city each year for the benefit both of locals and of those who would like an excuse to visit different cities. Am I over-analysing and trying to formalise the informal? Probably!

Although three regular meetings is probably enough, I see no reason why a group of members anywhere couldn't plan a lunch or dinner a month out and advertise it in here in case others were already going to be in town or might want to plan a trip there.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with having a more 'regional' meetup. Every meetup doesn't have to be a big national affair. Some people may not want to travel long distances, and can drive to one meetup but not the others.

And to do a meetup during a big event just makes sense. A lot of people may have been going to DC for MAL anyway. Same goes for Chicago/IML.

So let's meet in Chicago. If only a dozen people show up, that's fine. If 100 show up, that's fine, too.

True, dat, I was thinking of the spread of dates between functions. I knew IML was a factor but had forgotten about that when I was writing the post. I didn't intend to suggest that Chicago shouldn't happen this year! And yes, regional meetings are a good idea.

Count me in! I am working at IML this year and should be able to get away in the evening for a meet up. I am not sure if there are any rooms left at the host hotel but there should be some at the Hilton or Hampton inn next door

I'm a definite maybe lol. I have to see what work brings that weekend (I work retail, so that weekend can be big or not so big). I would definitely know closer to the date.

Ayn Rand is seen so negatively. I must admit I've never read this author. What's the deal with this person? Is she a good witch? Or, a bad witch? Hehe

From what I gathered on her she was a lil cooky. As for the quote, I highly agree with it. So I guess that makes me a lil cooky tooo_O

Ayn Rand took things to extremes. Kinda nutty on the whole, actually.

But this is not unlike the Margaret Mead quote "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Who's organizing the event? Is there one happening this year?

I gotta tell you all --- This bear has had a really bad few years with health issues - 8 operations since late 2013 only 3 of which were planned

the other 5+ were emergencies --- In the interim I would recover and start to play again on.ly for something else to happen.. This most recent

ortho surgery SHOULD BE THE END --- And I am looking forward to getting back to being a 100% on a full time basis - rather than a few months at a time.

I have been trying to get to IML for that whole period --- I have been fortunate that the lovely men I have met here in Philly have been around for the bad times

and helped to usher in the restart of the good times --- A Daddy's Event would just be Whipped Cream on top of the Cherry! Whose whipped cream - and whose

Cherry yet to be determined -- I would love to book two or three different gentlemen with whom I have played before for extended private and public time along with

a few special gentlemen callers with whom I have tried to connect in the past.

I could use some advise on how much gear to bring --- I think Id rent rather than bring a sling -- Medical gear is always a challenge to travel with because of

sterilization difficulty in hotel situations and Electro gear makes TSA nervous as hell === And a 55 gallon drum of lube makes everyone nervous -- I always say

but its Crisco and It all Comes Back Except for One Tablespoonful! (Thanks Florence Henderson)

Tyger? Ace? Chris W? Iron Maus? Master Wayne? Rob Yeagar? Sir Kirk? Sir Leon? Roger? Tom Isern? Hot Butch Furry Kinky Cuddly Wild Men?

Seems to me that IML/Bear Pride Chi town is perfect for a daddy's gathering. I wonder if a lunch at a boystown bar with decent food might not be the way to go? With so many evening events, and pvt playtime, that might work for both schedule and budgets. Just a thought.

Put me on the list. I'm a strong maybe. I just got to decide if I'll be comfortable around escorts "off the clock." It's kind of a boundary thing for me. My poor regular was a bit nonplussed the two times we ran into each other because I waved hi and then fled. Lol

Alright! I have decided where we will chow down! www.latincity.com Now we have a couple of options, brunch on Sunday or lunch/dinner Saturday. This is located by all the hotels in a shopping mall. If you can't find it you got issues. I've eaten here twice and found the food to be quite delish. If you are not the adventurous of eaters well I'm not sure what to tell you. So, lunch/dinner or brunch? I kinda like the brunch options but lunch/dinner is cool too.

Two things.

  1. That link goes to a "domain for sale" page for me. If I add the http:// it works: http://www.latinicity.com
  2. I don't speak. Latin; I don't think I can eat there. :p
  3. I prefer lunch or brunch; don't care which day.

Ok, that was three things. So sue me.
