$10 will probably go a long way in the app store.

Do you prefer something sports-related, finance-related, arts-related, a game, or something else?

Areas of interest tend toward game or productivity app, but finance-related sounds interesting--that was something I hadn't considered. I even kept the original post open-ended so I might get ideas outside of my normal app habits. :)

You should be able to use it in either the App Store or iTunes Store regardless of where you redeemed it. Even though they're "separate" the gift card balance is the same and as far as I know, you can use your balance in either store.

Evernote premium is amazing and well worth it, but it costs $50 per year. :(

There's also Angry Birds. :D

Already have Angry Birds. :) Haven't played it in a couple of years--I got several levels in and I am at a point where it's too difficult for me and just frustrating to play.

I have seen Evernote before and used it a bit, but never gone "premium". Maybe it's time to try it again.

Didn't work. I redeemed the gift card and then bought an album. I paid for the album--no 'balance' was used at all. :( Luckily it was an Ella FitGerald / Duke Ellington album, so it was well worth the cost! :)

I'm sorry, not sure why that happened. Whenever I redeem a gift card into either store, it shows up in both (i.e. if I go to the iTunes store it says $X balance and same thing in the App Store and I can use interchangeably). But in any case, I'd recommend Fantastical 2. It's an awesome app for making events without having to fill in each field individually. It's only 2.99 right now so you'll have some money left over. Unfortunately that's the only thing I can recommend since I usually don't pay for apps, and the ones I do pay for are expensive and have even more expensive desktop counterparts (i.e. OmniFocus). Good luck!

Just checked my phone. Of all the crap I have on it, the apps I use the most are Shopper and KeyRing. Shopper is a nice little list app that I use mostly for groceries, but it's fast and easy to add items. KeyRing is for storing login and passwords for the multitude of sites we go to. I think between the thumb print, the app password and encryption, that's about as secure as I can get them all in one place and readily available. I can't remember for sure, but I think they both have free versions and premium versions.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will check it out.

Thanks for the input.

I found Shopper--looks like they have three different listings for the same app in the App Store, with different costs :)--but all with the same in-app purchases.

KeyRing--for all those "loyalty" cards and membership cards. Good idea--I just thinned out my wallet to stop carrying all those annoying cards everywhere.

Random but somewhat related - you guys should check out Ibotta. It's a free app where you can get cash back on random things you buy every day. How it works is you basically clip coupons for whatever you bought and then scan the item and receipt and then the credit your account. Then once you accumulate enough (I think the minimum is like $10) then you can withdraw it as gift cards or even to PayPal. It has pretty much every store and there are items you'd be buying anyway. For generic items like produce (i.e. 50 cents off bananas) you just have to take a picture of the receipt after you unlock it and it gets credited. It's really easy and basically free money. You just have to watch a little ad or learn a fact for each thing but you can just click it and put your phone down and do something else.
