I'm making a Dark Chocolate Guiness Cake.

Recipe at http://loveswah.com/2013/03/dark-chocolate-guinness-cake-with-baileys-cream-cheese-icing/ for those interested.

The recipe calls for a 9" springform pan but I have a 10" pan.

The horror!

Will the cake be a disaster?! :p

Merry Christmas everyone!

Everything will work out fine if you use a little more lube.

Over a cup of lube used. That helped A LOT! Thanks!!! :D

or spread wider.....

Definitely a good technique!

It won't be as tall so bake a bit less time

BTW - when using aluminum foil, which side to the food - shiny or dull?

I thought the tin foil was for my head--shiny side out?

Should be ok. The resulting cake will just not be as high.
High? Damn--knew I forgot the 420!

If you haven't started making it yet, line the bottom of the cake pan with parchment paper.
Yep--did that. The recipe evens tells you to do that, in case you're old and senile like me and don't remember to do that.

Thanks for the tips and the humor. I needed a lift today and knew this forum would not disappoint on either count. :)

How'd it come out? This sounds quite delish! If you were in Chicago I'd let you borrow the pan I have in exchange for a slice. Heck I'd even wash the bowl and what not with my tongue.

Hugs,

Greg

It came out great! Everyone loved it.

The next time I'm headed down Chicsgo way, I will make one for you. Making it together would be fun; the clean-up even more so....
