Am I the only message center member who noticed the movie "Swimfan"? Pay no attention at all to the plot. It just gets in the way of the eye candy. In fact, if they'd edit out the plot (what you porn hounds call the Fast Forwards) and edit in a few outtakes and shots of the actors getting dressed, you'd have definite whacking material with this one.

One of the actors, by the way, is named Clayne Crawford. Clayne is male. What sort of evil parent names a child Clayne?

The plot is something along the lines of "high school swimmer has one night stand with sinister vixen, yielding dire consequences." (The movie web site actually uses the phrase "sinister vixen".) Any movie with sinister vixens has to have hot guys with their shirts off. Swimfan does not disappoint. I'm going to have to look around my neighborhood more carefully. There may be sinister vixens that I've missed.

Assuming this works, here are a couple pictures from the film:

You can read more about the movie at:

My prediction: Academy Award for either "Best Pecs" or "Best use of Speedos as a Plot Device". Possibly both.

Nope. I saw it one night on HBO when I woke at 3:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep, which is one of the few situations in which I'm willing to watch television for any length of time. And that's how I know it contains no nudity, not even any significant shots of the actors in their speedos -- almost all such shots are from the waist up. If you want to see the star, Jesse Bradford, in a much more revealing situation, try the film "Hackers." If you like locker room scenes, there are vastly better scenes in films such as "The World According to Garp" and "Running Brave."

Cute. Been done before, of course.

It's sort of a cross between FATAL ATTRACTION and THE FAN (Yummy Michael Biehn as an obsessed fan of Lauren Baccall).

The DVD will likely be in the bargain bin at Best Buy by Christmas. }(

You're right, there's no nudity. But, there are a ton of speedo shots on the DVD. Could it be HBO aired a different edit of the film?

The DVD version I saw had a ton of gratuitous, male eye candy shots in it. From that perspective alone, it was worth suffering through the rest of the movie.

Boy, this is old news. The movie came out in 2002 and the DVD in 2003. I guess I'm the only one that liked the plot...it was certainly better than The Fan...in my not so humble opinion.

You can also see star Jesse Bradford, a few years younger, as a male prostitute in 1999's "Speedway Junky." Shows some skin there as well. :)

...THE FAN (Yummy Michael Biehn as an obsessed fan of Lauren Bacall).

Now THERE'S a guilty pleasure movie!! You know the type - they're so bad they're good...:-)

Some great Bacall moments - hearing her intoning the obviously scripted phrase "Hot love baby tonight" in the middle of one of her "star" numbers...and the torchy shambles of a melodramatic (yet oddly moving) song called "Hearts Not Diamonds" toward the end.

Oh, and Biehn is fun, too...:-)

I saw the movie on Cable and ordered the DVD based solely on the underwater shots of him doing laps in the pool. No Nudity, correct, but he sure has a fun looking happy trail underwater. A little to young for me, but fun to look at. Send him to me in five or ten years.

I don't understand the movie. I understand the story as I wrote something like it in 4th grade. I mean I don't understand the makers of this movie not having any nudity in it. The movie is called "Swimfan" which is a very erotic title. They would have made a lot more money on DVD sales if there was nudity because there are so many straight men in the closet who would have purchased it.

EBG: I would have to concur with your 'Speedo philosophy' :)

Establishing good swimgear shots are essential to any award-winning film. My first experience with such a film was 'Blue Lagoon' and uber-twink Chris Atkins. FRIGGIN HOT.

That memory escalated when seeing any episode of Baywatch where David Chokachi was wearing a Speedo and a smile. Some serious jackoff material, but sadly a pause button and TiVo weren't around quite yet.

BTW~ You guys mentioned 'Speedway Junkie.' It wasn't too bad of a film from an acting standpoint, with a good performance from pre-plastic-surgery-laden Daryl Hannah. The skin content for a film showcasing street hustlers is strangely absent here, but then again so is the feeling of this being a real gritty film. It sort of reminds me of a 'Kids'-lite (the amazing film by Larry Clark).

A current hot-as-hell guy i'd like to see be given the Speedo treatment: Matthew Lawrence. HOT.

Warmest Always,

I managed to watch part of " Swimfan " before I had to fast forward the movie until maybe twenty minutes prior to the ending. I thought Jesse Bradford was quite good actually. I prefered him in " Clockstoppers ". I understand there is supposed to be a third version coming out to DVD soon. I'm assuming it's already in Blockbuster.

Speaking of Jesse Bradford, I too had the chance to watch " Speedway Junkie ". I thought the movie was quite good. The reason I wanted to watch this movie was for Jonathan Taylor-Thomas. I thought he gave a convincing performance of a troubled youth in distress. Come to think Jesse Bradford wasn't too bad either. He managed to keep pace in scenes with Mr Thomas. Off course one musn't forget Daryl Hannah as she was provided with good material and the character was tailer made for her. She's also very good in Kill Bill Volume 2. It's only my opinion.

THANK YOU! I think Matthew Lawrence is HOT too. I find myself constantly watching the movie with him and his two brothers on the Disney Channel -- the one that takes place on some deserted tropical island -- whenever it's on. I cannot turn away from it! Even the youngest brother is SO CUTE (I know, too young, but we can all dream, can't we?). Great legs and upper bodies on both of them. Great everything, come to think of it.
