Sorry to tell you this, but it's my strong impression that upstate NY from Albany to Syracuse and up to the Canadian border -- the whole of the Adirondack region -- is pretty much an escort wasteland.

From Syracuse, NY, Montreal is approximately 6 or more hours away---and that is an optimistic number.(Don't try speeding on I-87, commonly known as the Northway---lots of NY State Troopers patrol this road and I-90, the Thruway, as well.) Also, getting through immigration points can be problematic--especially if you have any DWI, DUI----Canadian law allows you to be prohibited entry because it is considered a felony, I believe. On the other hand---Montreal is the BEST place to head if you are stranded in Syracuse!!!

Matt York in Rochester has been on my list for some time. I just missed him the last time I was in town.
