The Herndon Climb

The Herndon Monument on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy is a 21-foot tall grey granite obelisk erected in memory of Captain William Herndon. It is the site of the famous "plebes-no-more" ceremony, where plebes (first year students at the academy) work together to climb the greased monument and replace a plebe "dixie-cup hat" at the top of the monument with a "combination cover" (peaked cap). This is the official end of the plebe year.

In the midst of the climb, were I young enough to participate, the effort would probably keep the blood in other parts of my body. That was my experience when we did wresting in junior high--I was afraid I'd get hard, but actually wrestling/fighting was not all that sexy, once my fight or flight instincts we triggered. (I know that the adrenaline and surge in testosterone causes an erection in other wrestlers on occasion).

 

These annual photos of the smorgasbord of hot guys at the end of the year, on the other hand, have enhanced a number of onanstic pleasure sessions!

 

I do wonder what it's like for the gay guys in the pile.
