I recently attended a workshop sponsored by the sex workers' project of the jurban justice center. one of the things they discussed was what to do if you are arrested. there had a set of very practical guidelines that I suggest might be a permanent part of this site—available to everyone who visits here.

some of the issues they discussed include never talking to police. they are trained to lie to you. to say anything they feel will motivate you to confess, to spill the beans, to implicate yourself. the ONLY thing one should say to police if they arrest you is "I want a lawyer." it would be a good idea for escorts to carry their lawyer's info with them, to know in advance what your plan is if you are taken down. here in NYC, every escort should have the number of the sex workers' project: 646-602-5617. if the police stop you, never sign anything, simply ask if you are free to leave. if stopped/frisked, say that you don't consent to this search, but don't physically resist.

some of the most interesting suggestions they had concerned what to do if police arrive at your door. don't simply open for them. ask if they have a valid search or arrest warrant. even if they do, you don't have to open for them automatically. ask them to slip the warrant under the door. one should then check to be sure that all the information is correct—EVERYTHING has to be correct, including the apartment number. and it can't be more than 10 days old, at least here in NYC. if it is a valid arrest warrant, they even had suggestions about how to surrender: LEAVE YOUR KEYS BEHIND, say to them "I'm coming out to surrender," but when you leave, pull the door shut behind you so they can't enter and search.

this was all very helpful, and I suppose there are legal issues about this site providing legal advise? but perhaps we here at daddys could work together with the sex workers' project to make available here a document that they projece that we share with anyone and everyone concerned? I know that some of these things have been discussed in other threads by other good folks, but I'm concerned that good information that should have a prominent place on this site is going to get buried in the archive where it will only see the light of day when searched for. what do folks think?

Might daddy consider putting a link in the FAQ's for this site? Seems like the "Legal" and "If you're an escort" categories might be a reasonable place to put such links.

I'm not a legal expert, but I believe that the laws related to internet forums alleviate most liability for user-generated content from the site operator. In other words, if we, as users, post information, Daddy isn't liable for it, but asking Daddy to post it is a different matter: it's probably best if he doesn't.
