Here are my thoughts, picks, and so forth. I will put up a home cooked meal, including some very good Napa Valley red wine, to anyone who wants to bet against me....

St. Louis

UAB (9) v. Kansas (4) and Georgia Tech (3) v. Nevada (10)

The number 1 and number 2 seeds fell in the second round and many have picked the next highest seed, Georgia Tech, to go all the way to the final four, some even picking them before the tournament began, but I am going with Kansas (who will have a great deal of local fan support in the stands) and Nevada to knock off an over-rated team; the trip to San Antonio more likely ends up in the hands of Kansas.

East Rutherford

Pitt (3) v. Oklahoma (2) and St. Joe (1) v. Wake Forrest (4)

This is the one regional going according to form, although many thought St. Joe was overrated and not deserving a number one seed and felt Pitt had a difficult draw. I belive Pitt and Oklahoma are a draw, likely turning on the officiating and crowd support. St. Joes will likely have a great deal of local fan support as well as the "Packer Factor" against Wake Forrest and I still expect St. Joe to end up representing this region at the final four.

Atlanta

Duke (1) v. Illinois (5) and Texas (3) v. Xavier (7)

Xavier has been the surprise here, especially to defeat a southern college, which might also favor Duke. Duke is playing really good ball and Illinois has lucked their way thus far; some foul trouble will end their run and Texas, simply by virtue of having one of the sexiest ball players (as good a reason as any other), will face off for the right to San Antonio. This is a close draw, and I reserve holding off on the elite eight prediction, but obviously favor Texas to San Antonio.

Phoenix

Except for UConn, this is another implosion of a regional.

Alabama (8) v. Syracuse (5) and Vanderbilt (6) v. UConn (2)

This is a simple outcome. Syracuse will, albeit with a little difficulty, dispatch Alabama and then lose easily to UConn, which will head to Texas to their defeat.

I am forcasting a national championship at this time between St. Josephs and the winner of the Atlanta Region, most likely Duke, but hopefully Texas.

SHOOT, Franco, I WANT to bet against you, but if I win is there any leeway on collecting on your part?

I pick the final in this region to be Kansas vs Georgia

Tech, with Georgia Tech going to the Final Four! Of course, I wouldn't be suprised to see the final be UAB vs GT, but GT all the way to the final four! :)

I pick the final in this regional to be between Oklahoma State (not Oklahoma - who is in the NIT) and St. Joseph's with OSU winning and going to the Final 4!

Just my opinion but I pick Xavier over Texas, Duke over Illinois and thus Duke over Xavier, putting the second ACC team in the Final Four.

Well, I pick Alabama over Syracuse and Connecticut over Vanderbilt and then Connecticut over Alabama.

Well my final four is Georgia Tech over Oklahoma State and Duke over Connecticut. With the final, championship game being Duke over Georgia Tech, but then again I'm a DIE HARD ACC FAN! :)

Of course, I WOULD LOVE to see Wake Forest come out of its regional against OSU to face GT in the final 4, if so, then I know that there is a God, as the ACC was the absolutely best conference this year and nothing would prove it more than to have 3 of the final 4 be ACC teams! :)

I would love to see some of those lanky, twinky faced college basketball players play in the nude. yum yum

VaHawk: Didn't you say somewhere that you had Stanford vs. Kentucky in your final two?

LOL... not making fun of you though, as I had Miss St. going all the way myself.

Pot... meet kettle!

Right on, my man! My first fantasy would be Duke's J. J. Redick . . . black hair, milk white skin. Oh, yeah . . .

Against a dinner out (your choice) and wine (also your choice)

>St. Louis

Since I lost two of my finalists here (Kentucky & Gonzaga), I'll now go with Kansas.

>East Rutherford

Lost my finalist here (Wisconsin - hey I know, but I'm a Big Ten fan & yes, it's not so hot this year), I'll go with St. Joe (my other semi-finalist here)

Hmmmm, so far I'm not betting against you...

>

>Atlanta

Have to stay with Duke to come out of here.

>Phoenix

Will stick with Connecticut.

So Duke beats Connecticut and meets St. Joe. Duke wins. I have now jinxed them all.:+

Glad you are going with Kansas. Several reasons I'd love to see them win it all this year. I think Roy Williams departed under rather odd circumstances, and so it would be great if a team he recruited won it without him. While I don't dislike Roy, and think he was great for the Kansas program, the way he left KU didn't just quite ring true with myself and other Kansas fans.

KU is my alma mater. The inventor of basketball, James Naismith, is buried on the KU campus. We like to think his ghost watches out for the team in some vague and indescribeable way.

With Louisville and Kentucky both falling out fast, I am truly lost in this year's Madness and don't know who to chose now. Maybe its time to back an underdog. Go Xavier!!!

Round of Eight

Well, my guesses were pretty accurate until St. Joe's lost to Oklahoma State and Texas to Xavier, but unlike VaHawk, I expect Kansas to beat Georgia Tech today while Xavier's luck will run out against Texas.

Between U. Conn and Duke, Kansas and Oklahoma Stata, I would not bet in favor of Duke against U. Conn and since St. Joe's is gone, I am changing my prediction to Kansas to take it all.

RE: Round of Eight

Hmmm, seems like Kansas took a wrong turn and wound up back home in Lawrence, instead of in San Antonio. :D Ooops, I guess they ran into a swarm of overrated yellow jackets and found out that they still had quite a sting.

Bada Bing! Where's Paulie and Christopher, I want to place some bets.

Sure would LOVE to see Georgia Tech win the whole thing, but as close as the regionals were it appears to be anyone's ball game.

Wow, I never realized that Georgia Tech would do so well.

Being an alumni of that school, I guess that I should actually start watching the game and cheer for them. :+

RE: Yeller

Gee, I was 1 point from being 14-0 in games involving the sweet 16 teams, doesn't that get me at least a McDonald's burger? :) I need to get one of those UMD tshirts that say Duck Your Fuke.

Go Georgia Tech!

None of the Above

Wake Forrest and Duke, amongst your predictions, lost where you had them going ahead. I modified my original prediction at the Round of Eight to go with UConn. You appeared to have also modified your prediction to go with either Duke or Georgia Tech.

Thus, your one chance of winning at least a creamy champagne risotto with portobello and cremini mushrooms served over a medium rare fillet mignon marinated in a 1991 Organic Cabernet with an enoki and shiitake mushroom sauce. The last time I was inside a McDonalds was merely to use their bathroom in an emergency.

RE: None of the Above

HUH? Wake Forest was not even in the sweet 16, which is the subject of this thread which you yourself opened. I'm still 13-1 in all games involving these teams, the only one I missed was Duke against Connecticut yesterday by 79-78. Of course I had Duke over Georgia Tech in the championship game, so I miss that one also.

Ooops, forgot about WF being there. But I stand by my other comments as from my original post to your thread:

“I pick the final in this region to be Kansas vs Georgia

Tech, with Georgia Tech going to the Final Four! Of course, I wouldn't be suprised to see the final be UAB vs GT, but GT all the way to the final four!”

Made me 3-0

“I pick the final in this regional to be between Oklahoma State (not Oklahoma - who is in the NIT) and St. Joseph's with OSU winning and going to the Final 4”

Made me 6-0

“Just my opinion but I pick Xavier over Texas, Duke over Illinois and thus Duke over Xavier, putting the second ACC team in the Final Four.”

Made me 9-0

“Well, I pick Alabama over Syracuse and Connecticut over Vanderbilt and then Connecticut over Alabama.”

Made me 12-0

“Well my final four is Georgia Tech over Oklahoma State and Duke over Connecticut. With the final, championship game being Duke over Georgia Tech, but then again I'm a DIE HARD ACC FAN!”

Made me 13-1. Yeah, I don’t have a shot at my original sweet 16 team pick to win the final but at least I had Georgia Tech in the final 2! Seems, I did just a “tad” better than you at all levels of play by the sweet 16, so I didn’t have to readjust as you did along the way to the championship game.

GO GEORGIA TECH!

YAWN! ANOTHER BORING CHAMP

Piss on Connecticut. Piss on Duke. Piss on Kansas. Piss on Kentucky. And a belated Piss on UCLA. Same old, same old, same old teams every year. BORING!!, similar to the Yankees every YEAR in the World Series. The rich and storied are always going to be rich and storied. How fucking boring!!

The last time anyone interesting won the NCAA men's championship was Maryland two years ago. Before that it was Villanova in 1985! Few and far between! :-(

DOUBLE PISS on the NCAA women's championship with Tennessee vs Connecticut. YAAAAAAWWWNNNNNNN!!!! NEXT! ANYONE?!

Dinner With Coupon

Well, apparently even though some of us were insistent in our scorekeeping, no one won the home cooked meal and my original set of predictions did not pan out as I expected, though my revised set did.

RE: Dinner With Coupon

Just can't admit that your picks sucked can you? Try revising your bets after placing them, as events unfold, with a gambling house some time. I lost, you lost, but if this was a real gambling scenario I would have kicked your butt as far as money won. BADA BING! :o

RE: Dinner With Coupon

Have you ever played a NCAA basketball tournament bracket sheet before. Points are accrued each round and each game. Considering that your picks were WAY OFF in several games and your final two was St. Josephs and Duke or Texas (you would have had to pick one not one or else this one), you got stomped!! }(
